OEMatic service scope – what do we repair, and what do we not?
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
What equipment do we repair?
We specialise in repairing factory-fitted radios, navigation systems and car amplifiers installed in cars and lorries.
What is a factory radio, navigation unit or car amplifier?
A factory radio, navigation unit or car amplifier is equipment fitted in a car or lorry at the factory during production. The vehicle leaves the showroom with exactly this equipment when it is sold.
Which manufacturers of radio-navigation systems do we service?
The brands we most often repair include: Alpine, Becker, Blaupunkt, Bosch, Clarion, Continental, Denso, Fujitsu Ten, Harman Becker, LG, Magneti Marelli, Matsushita, Mitsubishi Electric, Siemens VDO, Visteon, Zenec.
Which manufacturers of car amplifiers do we service?
We service amplifiers from: ASK, Bose, Bang & Olufsen, Harman Becker, Lear, Mobis, Naim, Xiam.
In which cars do we repair radio-navigation systems?
We repair factory-fitted equipment in, among others: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Chrysler, Citroen, DAF, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, KIA, Lancia, Mazda, Man, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Scania, Seat, Skoda, Suzuki, VW.
Don't see your car on the list – can we help?
You can send the free quote form at any time and we strongly encourage you to do so. The absence of your model from the list does not rule out what we can do – everything will become clear after the free verification of the details you send us. We are constantly expanding the portfolio of models we support, so there is a good chance we can help you too. Remember: a free quote costs nothing.
Do we repair equipment from lorries?
Yes – we service factory radio-navigation units fitted in lorries from the following brands: Daf, Man, Scania, Mercedes.
What do we not repair at all?
We do not carry out assessments or repairs of so-called replacement radio-navigation units fitted instead of factory units, often described as “Chinese copies” with Android system. If you are unsure whether your equipment is factory-fitted and whether we can help, prepare photos of the unit and then use the free quote.
Typical faults and symptoms
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
What are the most common faults customers come to us with?
Typical faults we deal with are: the unit does not switch on or keeps resetting, no sound from the speakers, radio or navigation locked with a PIN code, unit damaged by water or moisture, damaged or unreadable display, no GPS reception.
What are the symptoms of no sound from the speakers or silence in the audio system?
Silence in all speakers – the amplifier is not outputting a signal (e.g. Audi Q7 Bose, Kia/Hyundai AMP-80). Loss of sound in the multimedia unit (e.g. MIB 1/2). Radio-navigation does not switch on – no audio (e.g. Scania AUS3 TIP, Mercedes Harman Kardon Logic 7).
What are the typical problems with amplifiers?
Water ingress and PCB corrosion, overheating and intermittent loss of music, crackling / no sleep mode – flat battery (Passat CC Harman Kardon AMP600 or Logic7 in W221), no sound or intermittent sound (e.g. in Audi, Porsche, Mercedes Benz amplifiers).
What are the usual start-up problems with radio-navigation systems?
The unit does not start, resets or freezes on the logo (e.g. Mercedes Comand NTG 5*1 Audio20, Zenec). Radio coded or PIN / "SAFE" error (Denso, Magneti Marelli, Clarion, Fujitsu Ten). Black, cracked or unlit display. Battery drain caused by the radio (Ford TravelPilot LSRNS FX). No USB / disc reading or random restarts (Ford NX, Blaupunkt NX). No GPS reception / antenna fault. Crackling speakers, CAN interference (MIB II, RNS 510, W204).
Equipment identification and quote
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether my equipment is factory-fitted (OEM)?
Remove the unit, check the rating label and look for the manufacturer's logo (e.g. Harman Becker, Bose) and the part number stamped on the unit label. If the label shows Chinese characters or there is no brand information, the equipment is most likely a replacement unit that we do not service. If in doubt, send us photos – we will verify it free of charge.
Where can I find the part number or model of the radio/navigation system?
Remove the unit from the car, then look for the sticker with the part numbers and the manufacturer logo. The part number usually takes the form: 8T0 035 223 T (Audi) or A 212 900 45 02 (Mercedes Benz). Every unit has this type of nameplate.
Why do you ask for a photo of the label with catalogue numbers?
Catalogue numbers allow your unit to be identified. This is essential for an accurate initial quote for the lead time and service costs.
What photos should I attach to the free quote form?
If possible, attach a photo of: the front of the unit with the screen on, the nameplate with the part number, the fitting location in the car if the problem may be related to the installation. Good, steady photos shorten the time needed to prepare the repair proposal.
Is the initial free quote really free and without obligation?
Yes. After the initial analysis of the problem, you will receive an estimated price and the repair terms. Whether you commission us to carry it out is entirely up to you.
Do I need to send the unit in to find out the repair cost?
No. In 95% of cases, photos and a description of the fault are enough. You only send the equipment once you accept the initial quote.
How long does it take to prepare an initial quote?
We usually need up to 24 hours to prepare an initial repair proposal. If the information is insufficient, we will ask you to provide additional details, which may slightly lengthen the process.
What does the diagnosis cost include and is it included in the repair price?
A full diagnosis after we receive your unit (disassembly, assessment, verification) costs 0 zł if you decide to proceed with the repair. If you decline, we charge 123 zł (amount includes 23 % VAT) to cover technician time and return logistics.
How accurate is the initial quote?
For typical faults, we hit the final cost with an accuracy of ±10 %. If we find hidden damage during diagnosis, we will immediately inform you of the new price and ask for approval of the repair.
What if I decide not to proceed with the repair and do not accept the terms?
If, after receiving the repair proposal, you decide that the turnaround time or price does not suit you and you cancel the repair, you will pay only 123 zł incl. VAT (includes 23% VAT). This amount covers the diagnosis and the return logistics of the unit.
What if it turns out the repair is impossible?
If, during diagnosis, we determine that the repair is technically impossible – for example due to hidden damage or previous unsuccessful repair attempts by another workshop – we will return the unit to you at our expense.
How much does the repair cost? Do you offer a fixed price?
The price depends on the model of the unit and the type of fault. For many standard problems, we can offer a fixed, agreed rate upfront. In less typical cases, we provide an approximate price range. However, we always aim to give you an estimated cost at the first contact.
How do I send the equipment after accepting the quote?
After accepting the initial quote, you will receive an email with a link to the repair enquiry form, along with the shipping address. In addition, we will reserve the earliest possible slot for you to begin the on-site assessment.
Do I need to send the complete set (radio and amplifier)?
It depends on the type of fault. In the case of sound issues, where it is not clear whether the radio or the amplifier is at fault, we often ask you to send both units. This allows us to carry out a comprehensive diagnosis and rule out communication problems between modules, which guarantees an effective assessment and repair.
Repair process and logistics
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
What does the full repair process at OEMatic look like, step by step?
Our repair process is straightforward – it usually consists of several steps.
1. Contact and Identification: you send us an enquiry describing the fault and with photos of the unit.
2. Initial Quote: based on this information, we present you with repair proposals (we will give you typical repair costs and warranty terms).
3. Sending the Equipment: after your initial approval, you send the unit to us.
4. Assessment and Final Approval: once we receive the equipment, we carry out a detailed diagnosis and finally confirm the costs. We always wait for your final approval before starting the actual repair.
5. Repair and Testing: we refurbish your unit in our workshop.
6. Payment and Return: after the repair is completed, we send you a pro forma invoice for payment, and once payment has been received, we return fully working and tested equipment.
How long does the whole process take, from dispatch to receiving working equipment?
The assessment and cost confirmation usually take 1-5 working days from the moment we receive the parcel. The repair itself, once the costs have been approved, is usually quick. We always do our best to make sure you can enjoy a working unit as soon as possible.
How do I safely pack a radio or amplifier before sending it?
Correct packaging almost eliminates the risk of damage in transit. Remember these three simple steps:
1. Protect the unit with bubble wrap or another cushioning material.
2. Place the equipment in a rigid box and fill any empty space (paper, foam, air cushions) so it cannot move around inside the parcel.
3. Include contact details – ideally a printout from the online form or a note with your first name, surname, phone number, invoicing details, email address and return address.
Warranty and complaints
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How much warranty do you get after the unit has been repaired?
Depending on the unit and the service, you receive a warranty for a period of 6 to 36 months from the invoice date. Information on which type of fault and for how long the warranty is granted can be found at the bottom of the VAT invoice – in the notes field.
Where can I find information about the complaints and withdrawal process?
Detailed information is available on the complaints and withdrawal subpage.
What is not covered by the warranty?
The warranty does not cover repeat faults caused by external factors such as:
– the unit being flooded or damp after repair,
– corrosion caused by water or moisture entering the unit,
– any damage resulting from incorrect installation or use in conditions of elevated humidity.
