What does
OEM unit repair involve?
We repair the factory module
Instead of choosing a new radio or navigation system, we diagnose the removed OEM unit from the lorry. We remove the cause of the fault so the unit keeps its factory fit in the vehicle.
We check the panel, screen and electronics
On the test bench, we check the unit’s power supply and electronics, memory data and communication with the connected modules. Any checks of the vehicle wiring are arranged with the local workshop.
You keep the factory unit
After repair, you get back the same OEM module, matched to the vehicle version and configuration. You do not need to look for a used replacement with an unknown history.
Repair the radio or buy a new or used one?
In a lorry, matching the part number, version and configuration of the OEM system matters, so buying another unit may mean extra coding. Repairing your own module lets you keep a known history and check its operation after the work is completed.

The scope of service depends on the device version, part number and symptoms. Please send a photo of the label so we can confirm whether diagnostics are possible.
How does mail-in repair work
step by step?
You do not need to bring the vehicle in. Describe the problem and we will help you work out what to remove and send. After inspection, you will receive a quote for approval — only then will we start work.
01
Describe the problem and show the device
Write what is happening in the vehicle, state the make, model and year. Add a photo of the device, the error screen or the nameplate sticker, if you have one. On that basis, we will initially assess whether we can help.
02
We will help you work out what to send
Not sure whether to remove the radio, screen, amplifier or another unit? We will advise which component to check, how to prepare it for shipping and how to pack the parcel safely.
03
We confirm the fault and quote for the work
In the workshop we carry out diagnostics, confirm the source of the problem and define the scope of work. We send a quote for approval. We only start work after your approval.
04
We repair, test and return
We remove the cause of the fault, test the device and send it back safely packed for refitting. Every repair we carry out is covered by a warranty.
We rescue even the most difficult cases.

Factory radio or navigation system in a lorry does not always show a symptom that immediately points to the faulty module. The problem may lie in the radio, panel, display, audio module or data memory. That is why it is good practice to start the repair by identifying which module is actually causing the fault. In practice, this means repairing a specific circuit or data record rather than replacing the whole set.
What are the typical symptoms and faults of lorry radios and navigation systems?
Typical symptoms include no start-up, restarts, freezing on the logo, loss of sound, no picture and partial operation of functions. In a lorry, such a symptom does not yet mean that the radio itself is faulty. The same effect can be caused by the panel, display, amplifier, power supply section or a memory error after a voltage drop.
An internal fault in the device is worth considering when the symptom returns and does not go away after basic checks of the power supply, earth and vehicle-side connections. A fault may be indicated by:
- the device remains dead despite correct power supply and earth,
- the system starts up and then resets after a moment,
- the radio stops on the logo or loses saved settings,
- the screen works intermittently, there is no picture, or the panel does not accept commands,
- the sound disappears, even though the unit starts and responds to control.
After a loss of power, it is worth first checking whether the problem is due to a simple code lock, configuration, or damage to the memory area. After flooding or a power surge, diagnostics should cover the power supply and the main board, because the fault may affect more than one section.
When can repair of an OEM factory unit be a better option than replacement?
Repair of an OEM factory unit — that is, the original manufacturer’s module — can be more cost-effective when a specific circuit, memory or panel is damaged and the rest of the unit remains operational. You then keep the original module, its compatibility with the installation and the stored data needed for correct start-up. This is especially important when similar-looking units have a different hardware version, different memory and a different start-up process after installation. In practice, this reduces the risk of buying a part that looks right from the outside but does not work properly in the vehicle concerned.
Replacing a used module does not guarantee that the problem will not return after installation, or that additional matching will not be needed. The repair service first confirms the source of the fault and only then decides whether to repair the electronics, memory, panel or a specific cooperating module. In some cases, for example with extensive damage after a power surge, flooding or corrosion, the workshop may decide that repair is not justified.
How are radio and navigation systems in lorries diagnosed and repaired?
The scope of the initial diagnostics depends on the part number, hardware version and description of the behaviour, so it starts with identifying the exact variant of the unit and the symptom. The part number, hardware version and behaviour description determine which test bench and start-up method are appropriate. This matters because visually similar units may have different power supplies, memories and start-up logic.
Once started on the bench, it is checked whether the problem lies in the power supply, memory, audio path, image output or communication with other modules. Depending on the symptom, the diagnostics can include checking:
- current draw, short circuits and the power-up sequence
- converters, stabilisers and signs of damage after a power surge or flooding
- data memory, write integrity and soldered connections of the ICs
- the panel, buttons, touch screen, image output and backlighting
- the audio path, response to controls and the unit’s communication lines on the test bench
If the assessment confirms a repairable fault, the scope of the work and the cost confirmation are prepared. Repair begins only after approval, and an initial assessment can be provided earlier based on photos and a description. After the fault is removed, the unit is tested for operation and for the functions covered by the repair. If a given variant requires coding or synchronisation after installation, this is due to the architecture of the OEM system, not the repair itself.
What should be prepared before sending the unit for repair?
Before sending it, you should gather the information needed to distinguish a fault in the main unit from a problem with the panel, screen or amplifier. On this basis it is possible to confirm what should be removed and prepare an initial quote. Before submitting and sending it, it is best to prepare:
- a photo of the front of the unit and the label with the part number
- vehicle model and year
- a precise description of the symptom and when it occurs
- information on whether the problem appeared after a loss of power, flooding or a power surge
- an indication of which functions work and which do not
- information about a separate screen, panel or amplifier, if fitted
If the unit works partially, it is not enough for an initial assessment simply to say that the radio is faulty. You need to indicate whether the sound, picture, touch, panel response or saved settings disappear. This reduces the risk of sending the wrong module and shortens the route to the correct diagnosis.
Before removal, it is worth checking the fuses, permanent power, ignition-switched power, earth and signs of moisture in the connectors. This check should be carried out on the vehicle side before sending it, because the workshop diagnoses the removed unit. After a loss of power, you should not repeatedly enter random codes or make improvised wiring bypasses. A practical mistake can be sending the radio without first establishing whether the symptom is not caused by an external module or the installation.
Frequently asked questions
and answers
Key information about diagnostics, shipping, quoting and repair of an OEM factory unit.
Do I need to bring the lorry to OEMatic?
No. You can send the removed unit by courier from anywhere in Poland, or deliver it in person to the workshop in Sochaczew by prior arrangement.
Do you repair radios and navigation systems from DAF, MAN, Scania and Mercedes?
Yes, we work on selected OEM factory units from these lorry brands. We will confirm whether diagnosis is possible based on a photo of the unit, the front panel or the rating label.
Do you deal with Android radios fitted in place of the factory units?
We do not repair aftermarket replacements fitted in place of the factory radio or navigation unit, including Android devices. We identify OEM units by the label with the manufacturer's logo and part number.
I’m not sure whether the radio or the amplifier is at fault — what should I send?
Before removing the unit, describe the symptoms and send photos of the system components. In the event of sound issues, we may ask for the radio and amplifier so we can check communication between the modules.
Do you check the electrical system in the lorry?
We check the supplied, removed OEM module at our workshop. Have a local garage check the power supply, earth or wiring in the vehicle; removal and refitting of the module is also carried out outside our workshop.
How should I protect the radio or screen for transport?
Cover the screen and connectors, use rigid cardboard and fill any empty spaces. If you are sending additional parts, pack them separately so they do not damage the panel or casing.
