Repair of Iveco radio, navigation and amplifiers covers OEM modules, that is factory components working with the vehicle’s wiring. In an Iveco Daily, APTIV NAV NIS units are also found, and a dead unit does not always mean a fault in the whole system. It has to be established whether the problem concerns the removed module itself or components remaining in the vehicle.

What can be the symptoms of a fault in an Iveco radio, navigation unit or amplifier?

A fault can show itself in different ways: unusual unit behaviour, a message on the display or a lack of operation of a selected function. In a Daily with APTIV NAV NIS, the visible symptom alone does not yet prove whether the problem concerns only the removed module. That is why a possibly precise description of what is happening to the unit is important.

For diagnostics, that is determining the source of the problem, both the moment the fault appeared and what happened before it matter. Circumstances preceding the fault are important, e.g. changes in power supply, water damage or earlier repair attempts?

  • the unit does not power up or respond,
  • the unit starts up unreliably or stops on the start screen,
  • it only works partly or does not carry out the selected function,
  • a message or another visible symptom appears on the screen,
  • the fault is constant or occurs in specific circumstances.

If the removed module proves to be working, the cause must be sought in the vehicle itself. Further diagnosis — that is, checking the next components — should then concern the parts remaining in the vehicle.

How do diagnostics and repair of Iveco units work?

Diagnostics begin with identifying the unit and describing the symptom as precisely as possible. The unit is checked once it has been removed from the vehicle, not the whole vehicle. That is why, when making an enquiry, it is best to provide the model, year, a photo of the label, and information on when the fault occurs.

After the parcel arrives, the workshop carries out an inspection of the unit, and the time required depends on the type of unit, the symptom description, the completeness of the enquiry and the extent of the damage. An initial quote based on photos and a description can be prepared before dispatch; the time needed to prepare it depends on how complete the enquiry is and the quality of the photos. Repair starts only after the cost has been approved. For every enquiry, correct identification of the unit is needed first.

The scope of repair depends primarily on the condition of the electronics, memory, connectors and any corrosion after flooding. Once the work is complete, the unit is tested before being returned and comes back with a written warranty, depending on the scope of the repair. The workshop checks the removed unit; work that requires the vehicle must be arranged outside the scope of this diagnostics.

What should you prepare before sending the radio for repair?

Before sending it, prepare a description of the symptom so that a module fault can be distinguished from a vehicle wiring issue. The words “does not work” are not enough, because for assessment a precise description of the visible symptom, on-screen message or the unit’s behaviour is important. For Iveco Daily, it also matters whether the problem affects the whole unit or only a selected function. On this basis, the enquiry can be assessed in advance from photos and the description; the time needed for such an assessment depends on the completeness of the data and the quality of the material.

A well-prepared enquiry shortens the stage of establishing what the fault actually concerns. You also need to describe the circumstances that appeared just before the failure, because they help to direct the diagnostics. Before sending it, prepare:

  • the make, model and year of the vehicle,
  • a photo of the unit label and a photo of the screen or error message,
  • a precise description of the symptom and when it occurs,
  • information on which function is affected and how the fault shows itself,
  • the circumstances leading up to the failure, such as voltage drop, battery replacement, flooding or wiring repair,
  • information on any earlier repair attempts or tampering with the unit.

If a message appears on the screen, prepare a photo of it and the unit label details. If the removed module turns out to be in good working order, further diagnostics should concern the components remaining in the vehicle.

When does repairing an Iveco unit make sense compared with replacing it?

Repair makes sense when the damage concerns the factory module itself and its operation can be restored. This applies in cases where the extent of the damage allows repair. Replacement does not automatically solve the problem if the cause lies outside the module.

The decision between repair and replacement depends on the inspection result, the extent of the damage and approval of the cost.

Replacement may be considered when the damage is extensive and the inspection does not indicate that repair is justified. If, however, the check confirms that the module is working properly, the further cause must be sought in the vehicle, not in the unit itself.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of IVECO radio, navigation and amplifiers: enquiry, module dispatch and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in Iveco vehicles?

Yes, we work on factory Iveco audio and navigation modules, including the radio, navigation and amplifier. We do not repair replacements installed in place of original equipment, e.g. Android units.

Is it worth repairing an Iveco unit instead of replacing it?

Repair lets you keep the factory module matched to the car’s wiring and avoids the need to look for a used part. You decide after the unit has been checked and the cost approved, so we do not start work without your consent.

How is the repair quote for an Iveco radio or navigation unit prepared?

Before shipping, we can prepare an indicative quote based on the description of the symptoms and photos of the unit. We confirm the exact cost after inspecting the delivered module, and the repair starts after your approval.

Do you need to bring the Iveco in, or can you send the module?

You do not need to bring the car to the workshop in Sochaczew, because we check the removed module. You can send it by courier from anywhere in Poland or deliver it in person by prior arrangement.

What should be prepared before reporting a fault in an Iveco?

Prepare the car make, model and year, a short description of the symptoms and photos of the unit, panel and rating label. You do not need to know the exact name of the radio; we will ask for any additional details if they are needed.
