What does
OEM unit repair involve?
We repair the original OEM module
We do not replace the entire navigation unit with a random used part. We identify the fault in the supplied factory unit to keep it matched to the car and its equipment.
We check the screen and communication
On the test bench, we check system start-up, screen response and communication between the unit and the cooperating modules. Power supply measurements in the car should be carried out by a local workshop.
You keep the car integration
After repair, the same unit comes back to you, integrated with the screen, radio and vehicle equipment. You do not need to fit a used replacement with an unknown history.
Repair, a new module or a used one from the market?
Factory navigation is part of the car system, so the unit version, module history and any coding matter. See how buying a new module from an authorised dealer, buying a used part and repairing your unit at OEMatic differ.

| Parameter | New from the dealer | Used, from the open market | Repair at OEMatic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fitment to the vehicle | requires the correct version | uncertain | original unit retained |
| Unit history | new unit | usually unknown | known history of the unit from the vehicle |
| Additional coding | may be required | often required | depends on the scope of repair |
| Function check | according to the supplier’s procedure | uncertain | test after the completed repair |

How does mail-in repair work
step by step?
You do not need to bring the vehicle in. Describe the problem and we will help you work out what to remove and send. After inspection, you will receive a quote for approval — only then will we start work.
01
Describe the problem and show the device
Write what is happening in the vehicle, state the make, model and year. Add a photo of the device, the error screen or the nameplate sticker, if you have one. On that basis, we will initially assess whether we can help.
02
We will help you work out what to send
Not sure whether to remove the radio, screen, amplifier or another unit? We will advise which component to check, how to prepare it for shipping and how to pack the parcel safely.
03
We confirm the fault and quote for the work
In the workshop we carry out diagnostics, confirm the source of the problem and define the scope of work. We send a quote for approval. We only start work after your approval.
04
We repair, test and return
We remove the cause of the fault, test the device and send it back safely packed for refitting. Every repair we carry out is covered by a warranty.
We rescue even the most difficult cases.

Sometimes the radio can work for several days without a hitch, but sooner or later the fault returns and the audio anomalies in the speakers become unbearable. What is the remedy?
Repairing a factory car navigation unit concerns the original OEM unit integrated with the radio, screen and vehicle functions. The same symptom may be caused by a fault in the memory, power supply, image path, touch panel or communication with another module. That is why an effective repair starts with confirming whether the navigation unit itself, the screen, the control panel or the cooperating device is at fault. In practice, the workshop checks the removed module rather than randomly replacing parts that may be working perfectly well. The repair applies to OEM factory units, not aftermarket replacements.
What are the typical symptoms of a failure in factory car navigation systems?
When assessing a fault, it is not only the symptom itself that matters, but also when it appeared and whether it occurs constantly or intermittently. In integrated units, a similar effect may stem from different causes, so it is important which functions still work and which have stopped working.
A problem is assessed differently after the battery has been disconnected than after flooding, a power surge or another unusual event. For diagnostics, the most useful information is what helps narrow down the source of the fault:
- whether the device does not start at all, freezes on the logo or restarts after a moment,
- whether the screen stays black all the time or the image appears only sometimes,
- whether the lack of response concerns the entire touchscreen, or only part of the screen or selected buttons,
- whether the sound cuts out completely, crackling appears, or the problem concerns only selected sources,
- which functions still work, for example radio, Bluetooth, camera or the car menu,
- whether before the fault there was a power loss, flooding, power surge, removal or previous repair.
What does mail-in diagnostics of a factory navigation unit look like?
The removed device is sent by courier to the OEMatic workshop in Sochaczew after the initial quote has been accepted. A free initial quote is prepared on the basis of photos of the label and information about the car. There is no need to bring the whole vehicle, because only the removed unit is checked.
After receiving the parcel, the workshop checks the device and tries to confirm the reported symptom. Depending on the symptom and the supplied parts, the analysis may include power supply, memory, response to buttons or touch, image path, audio path and any communication that can be checked. Final confirmation of the repair cost depends on the type of device, the nature of the symptom and whether the unit alone is enough for verification, or whether cooperating parts are also needed. In many cases this takes approximately 1 to 5 working days from receipt of the parcel, and the work begins after approval.
For the enquiry and shipment, it is worth preparing information that shortens diagnostics, meaning the fault-checking stage, and helps determine the correct scope of verification. Before sending, prepare:
- a photo of the label with the part number,
- the car make, model and year,
- a precise description of the symptom and when it occurs,
- information on whether there was a power loss, flooding, power surge or another unusual event before the fault,
- a photo of the error screen, if a message appears,
- information on whether the device has been opened or repaired before.
After the repair, the device undergoes testing before being sent back, and the work carried out is covered by a written warranty. If the fault also involves the screen, panel or amplifier, the scope of checking is agreed before the work begins.
Why is it worth repairing the original OEM unit?
Repairing the original OEM unit — that is, the manufacturer’s component — may be justified when you want to maintain compatibility with the car and identify the true cause of the fault. Since the factory navigation is linked to the radio, screen, controls and some vehicle functions, the decision to repair or replace is best based on an assessment of the specific device, rather than on the symptom alone.
How should the device be prepared for repair shipment?
For shipment, prepare above all the correctly identified device and a description of the symptom that can be linked to a specific situation. It matters to the workshop whether the fault appeared after the battery was disconnected, a power surge, flooding or another unusual event. It is equally important which functions still work and which have only partially stopped working. This symptom map helps distinguish damage to the navigation unit itself from a problem in a cooperating module.
To diagnose effectively, it also has to be established whether the unit alone is enough for checking, or whether the screen, panel or amplifier is needed. Before sending anything, send a photo of the label and a short description to confirm the correct scope of checking. Before shipment, it is best to avoid actions that make later diagnostics more difficult:
- do not assume in advance that the screen itself is at fault,
- do not buy a used module before checking the part number and installation requirements,
- after flooding, do not switch the device on again just to test it,
- after a power surge, do not limit the assessment of the problem to the fuse,
- inform us straight away if the device has been opened or repaired before.
Such a set of information may make it possible to prepare a free initial quote. The unit itself is only sent after it has been approved, so you avoid unnecessary dismantling and sending the wrong part.
Frequently asked questions
and answers
Key information about diagnostics, shipping, quoting and repair of an OEM factory unit.
Do I have to bring the car to the workshop?
You do not need to come by car. You can send the removed module by courier or deliver it to the OEMatic workshop in Sochaczew by prior arrangement.
Should I send the radio, screen or amplifier?
We will agree this before removal based on the symptoms, car details and photos of the devices. If there are sound problems, we may ask for the radio and amplifier so we can check communication between the modules.
Do you repair Android navigation units instead of the factory one?
We do not repair aftermarket replacements fitted in place of the factory unit, including Android radio-navigation systems. A factory unit is identified by the sticker, manufacturer logo and part number.
Do I need to know the exact model name of the radio?
You do not need to know the model name of the radio or navigation unit. Make, model and year of the car, a description of the symptoms and photos of the unit, front panel and type label are enough.
Do you check the wiring and power supply in the car?
We check the supplied removed module, not the whole car. Have a local workshop carry out power supply and wiring measurements in the car if they are needed to rule out a fault outside the unit.
How should I pack the navigation unit with screen for shipping?
Protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid cardboard box and fill any empty spaces in the parcel. Pack any extra parts separately so they do not damage the panel, casing or sockets during transport.
