Locked Fujitsu Ten navigation system

Last updated: 14 October 2025

Definition:

Anti-theft locking in the Honda Connect radio is a factory security feature that activates after a power loss or when the unit is fitted into a car with a different VIN. The radio then asks for a 5-digit PIN code, without which it remains completely locked.

You get in the car, turn the key, and instead of your favourite music the radio screen greets you with the message: “Enter PIN code”. Every attempt to switch on the navigation or change station ends the same way – with a request for a 5-digit code that is nowhere to be found. Sound familiar?

It is an annoying situation, especially when it happened after a routine visit to a mechanic or simply after replacing the battery. You have an advanced multimedia system in your car that has become useless overnight. You feel helpless because neither the handbook nor the documents from the previous owner contain any trace of the required code.

Before you start looking for a used radio with an uncertain history (which will still ask for a code!) or call an authorised dealer to ask about the cost, which may be eye-watering – stop. In this article we will show you why your Honda Connect radio locks itself and how we recover the code for it (the service usually takes 1-3 working days, you receive a lifetime warranty on the correctness of the code, and the total cost is 400 zł incl. VAT).

How do you identify the Fujitsu Ten / Denso Honda Connect unit?

Identifying this radio is crucial, and it can be done in two ways: by the look of the front panel and by the information on the label on the casing.

Step 1: Check whether you have the navigation version (Garmin logo)

Honda Connect units come in two variants: as a radio only and as a radio with navigation. At first glance, you can recognise them by a small square sticker with the Garmin logo on the top cover of the casing. If you can see this sticker, you have the more fully equipped version with built-in navigation.

Step 2: Check the appearance of the front panel

Honda Connect radios were available in two main casing types:

Tilting panel (the so-called “lift”)

On some versions, the whole screen tilts to reveal the CD/DVD slot. In these models the 4-character product code (e.g.6VN5) is visible beneath the retractable screen.

Fixed panel (touchscreen, three buttons)

Other versions have the panel mounted permanently. They may have physical knobs and buttons on the sides of the screen, or be fully touch-operated with no protruding elements at all.

Step 3: Check the manufacturer on the label

Regardless of the appearance of the front panel, the most important and final verification method is checking the sticker on the radio casing. It must show the name of one of these two manufacturers:

Step 4: Compare the part number with the table

If you have access to the part number from the label, you can compare it with the list below to confirm the model and its compatibility with a specific car.

Main symptom: Request for a 5-digit PIN code

The problem is always the same and very characteristic.

  • The screen asks for a code: As soon as the ignition is switched on, a numeric keypad appears on the display and you are asked to enter the 5-digit PIN code.
  • Complete function lock: Without the correct code, the radio is completely blocked. You cannot listen to music, use navigation, change settings or connect to a phone. This is not a fault, but deliberate anti-theft protection.

Before you send the radio: Try this method!

We know this unit very well and we know that in some cases there is a simple way that can help bypass the code request. Before you decide to send it in, try this – you have nothing to lose and you may save time and money.

What should you do? With the unit switched on, at the moment when the radio asks for the code – press and hold the radio power button for a few seconds. On some units, this simple action is enough to make the radio start up without the lock screen.

If that does not work, it means your radio requires the code to be read physically. In that case, we are at your disposal.

Why does the Honda Connect radio lock itself and ask for a code?

This is not a factory defect, but deliberate anti-theft protection. Unlike some radios (e.g. Clarion QY-5017H-A), where the code is optional and set by the user, here it is permanently assigned to the unit.

The main reasons for the lock being activated are:

  1. Loss of power: This is the most common scenario. A flat or disconnected battery during a workshop visit is enough for the radio, after restarting, to “forget” the authorisation and ask for the verification code.
  2. Installation in another car (different VIN): The radio is paired with the vehicle VIN number. If you try to move it to another car, the system will detect this immediately and activate the lock.

How do we recover the code for your radio? Step by step

Our process is safe, proven and guarantees 100% effectiveness. It is based on physically reading the code, not on generators, which simply do not exist for this model.

  1. Contact and dispatch: You contact us to arrange a date. You receive the details and send us the removed radio.
  2. Verification and approval: After receiving the parcel, we connect the radio on the test bench and confirm that it is asking for the code. We inform you of this and wait for your acceptance of the terms (cost 400 zł, time 1-3 days).
  3. Code reading and testing: This is the key stage. We open the unit and, using a specialist programmer, read your unique 5-digit PIN code directly from the flash memory on the main board. The process is 100% non-invasive for the radio software – we do not modify it, we only read the saved code.
  4. Returning the unit: After reading the code, we reassemble the radio, enter the PIN and verify that it is correct. We test all functions, issue an invoice, and after it has been paid we send back a fully working unit together with the recovered code.

How much does Honda Connect radio unlocking cost?

We put full transparency first. You receive all the key information straight away:

The Honda Connect radio unlocking service takes 1-3 working days, you receive a lifetime warranty on the correctness of the code, and the total cost is 400 zł incl. VAT.

Our service vs alternatives: which is more worthwhile?

Before you decide, see how our solution compares with other options:

  • Visit to a Honda authorised dealer: The cost may be much higher, and the waiting time longer. Not every authorised dealer undertakes such work, especially in the case of imported cars or cars after modifications.
  • Buying a used radio: This is only apparent savings. Every radio from this series is factory coded. If you buy used equipment without the code, you are 100% guaranteed to run into the same problem, and additionally risk buying a damaged unit.
  • Online code generators: There are no effective code generators by serial number for this radio model. The only reliable method is a physical read from memory, just as we do in our workshop.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How do you unlock a Honda radio when it asks for a code?

If the method of holding down the power button did not work, the only way is to enter the correct 5-digit PIN code. If you do not have it, it must be recovered by a specialist service.

Where can you find the code for a Honda radio after disconnecting the battery?

The code should be in the vehicle documentation, often on a separate card the size of a business card. In second-hand or imported cars, unfortunately this card is very often missing. Sometimes the official instructions and FAQs provided by the manufacturer can help, but they rarely contain the code itself, only general guidance.

How much does Honda radio unlocking cost?

The total cost of our service is 400 zł incl. VAT.

What should you do if the Honda radio code does not work?

If you have the code but the radio will not accept it, this may mean that the radio has been replaced in the past and you have the code for the original unit. In this case, reading the code from the memory of the currently installed radio is also necessary.

Why does the Honda radio ask for a code at all?

It is a standard security feature. It is designed to prevent the radio from being started in a vehicle other than the one it was factory assigned to.

How do you read the serial number from the radio to obtain the code?

For this radio model (Fujitsu Ten / Denso), the serial number alone is useless for recovering the code. It is not possible to generate it on this basis, as with older models. Physical memory reading is required.
