How do you identify Audi RMC?

Audi RMC Delphi is found in the Audi A1, Q3 and A6 C7, in radio-only and navigation versions. To identify your unit, check the system designation and part number. Below you will find photos, identification tips and the numbers assigned to individual Audi models.

    Applications: versions fitted with RMC.

Rear of RMC: main connector and antenna sockets.
Rear of RMC: main connector and antenna sockets.

    Panel and system designation

The RMC panel is marked Audi multimedia and has two SD card slots. If the unit works, check the software designation in the menu, starting with RMC_. If you cannot start the radio, the version can be identified from the label on the housing.

    Radio or radio with navigation?

The navigation version uses GPS and maps on an SD card. The NAV button alone is not enough to identify it. We determine the variant by the unit number and the car’s equipment.

Where can I find the part number?

The part number can be found on the label on top of the housing. For identification we need the full number, including the final letter. Please send a clear photo of the entire label.

Select the Audi model and check the full number from the label, including the final letter. The list helps identify the unit; it is not used to select a replacement. If you cannot find your number, contact us.

What is wrong with your RMC?

Below we describe typical RMC faults and the scope of inspection. In your enquiry, tell us what is happening with your unit.

    RMC does not switch on

No response to the button, no backlighting and no sound. The cause may be a memory fault or a power supply fault; the symptom alone does not make the diagnosis. We inspect the unit, identify the damaged components and repair the memory or power supply according to the diagnostic result.

Startup stops at the Audi logo

The Audi logo stays on the screen and the menu does not start. One possible cause is damage to the NAND Flash memory. Once the fault is confirmed, we repair the memory and check whether the system starts correctly.

    The radio keeps rebooting

RMC shows the logo, goes off and starts again. The memory and power supply need to be checked; it is also important when the reboots started. We identify the cause of the reboots, repair the damaged components and check the stability of operation on the bench.

    Liquid has entered the unit

Liquid can cause corrosion of the board and connections. The extent of the damage depends on the condition of the individual unit. We assess the board, clean it and repair the damaged components if the condition of the unit allows it. We then check operation.

How much does an Audi RMC repair cost?

    1230–1476 zł incl. VAT

In most cases, repairing Audi RMC costs 1230–1476 zł incl. VAT. We confirm the exact price after checking the unit, before starting the repair. We issue a VAT invoice.

    Repair after your approval

After checking the RMC, we present the scope of work and the price. We start the repair after your approval.

    Assessment and repair

Inspection takes 1–3 days, and repair 2–5 days, depending on the service performed. We confirm the lead time after checking the unit. Transport and removal and refitting require additional time.

    12–24 months warranty

You receive a written warranty (VAT invoice) with the period and scope stated in the accepted offer. We provide the warranty period and scope before the repair begins.

Audi logo, black screen or constant restarts?

Please describe these symptoms separately. If the RMC stops at the logo, tell us whether it ever reaches the menu. In the case of restarts, it helps to know how long one cycle lasts and whether the unit worked normally beforehand. If the screen stays black, add whether there is sound and whether the buttons respond.

Also tell us whether the problem appeared after a power loss, contact with liquid or a previous repair. The symptoms help us plan the diagnostics; memory or power supply damage is confirmed after checking the unit.

What does RMC repair and testing include?

The scope of work depends on the fault: it may involve the NAND Flash memory, power supply circuits or damaged connections on the board. In water-damaged RMC units, we also check for signs of corrosion and the condition of the electronics. The diagnostic result shows which components need repair.

After repair, we check system start-up and the operation of the functions related to the reported fault. In the case of restarts, we also check stability of operation. If you still notice a problem after installation, let us know — describe how the RMC behaves in the car.

Repair the RMC or buy a used unit?

Before buying a used RMC, it is worth checking whether your own unit can be repaired. You find out the cost of fixing the fault and can compare it with the full replacement cost. You receive the repaired unit with a written warranty.

When replacing the unit, you need to take into account the compatibility of the part number and equipment, as well as the requirements for installation and start-up in the car. A similar panel does not mean the units are interchangeable. Compare the cost of the complete solution, not just the price of a used radio.

How do I send the RMC for repair?

    01

    Show the unit

Please provide the Audi model and describe the problem. Attach a photo of the unit or the label to the form; you can send additional photos by email. We usually reply within 24 hours on working days.

    02

    Prepare the RMC for shipping

Send the RMC unit only, without the separate frame and vehicle wiring loom. If you are not sure what to disconnect or remove, send a photo first. Protect the panel, knobs and connectors; secure the unit in a rigid box so it cannot move during transport.

    03

Send the parcel and approve the repair

On request, we can arrange courier collection and return at our expense. After receiving the unit, we check it and confirm the scope of work. We start the repair after your approval.

    04

    Collect the checked unit

We return the tested and protected RMC together with a VAT invoice and a written warranty. After receiving the parcel, you can arrange for the unit to be refitted in the car.

Many thanks to the entire OEMatic team for repairing the radio in my Lexus CT.
Professional and reliable service. I can wholeheartedly recommend this workshop!
Problem: black screen, no working radio, no interaction with the radio at all.

Highly recommended! My OEM JBL amplifier from a Toyota (CHR, 2017) suffered a short circuit, and other audio workshops would not agree to repair it. Here the problem was solved extremely quickly. They received the parcel on Monday, and by Thursday the repaired unit was back with me. Excellent communication at every stage, and most importantly – the price includes a 24-month warranty.
    Complete professionalism!

A service absolutely worth recommending. After years of problems with the infotainment head unit in my Skoda Superb constantly freezing and resetting, the MIB was finally repaired. The main dealer could only offer a replacement with a new unit for 3500 eur (!), other car audio companies could not help, and OEMatic carried out the repair in 1 day.

I recommend them wholeheartedly….I don’t know how they did it, but they decoded the radio from an Iveco Daily 2020 faster than it takes to pack the parcel with the radio…One workshop promised a lot, but failed and said the radio was only fit for scrap. I highly recommend them — complete professionalism and a good price. Best regards.

I recommend OEMatic — only 3 days passed from sending the radio to the workshop and having it fitted back in my car.
The radio from a Mercedes ML W164 2007 NTG2 BE 6089 had its fault diagnosed extremely quickly, and the repair was carried out just as fast.
Communication with Mr Tomasz was excellent, and updates from the workshop on the progress of the repair were sent promptly. This is definitely a workshop other people can learn from.
An obvious 5 stars from me.

VW Touran radio, I sent it to the company because the reversing camera was not working and the radio would not turn on. Sent by courier. Diagnosis: no faults. (the fault needs to be looked for elsewhere) The radio was sent back quickly and the company did not charge anything, not even for the return postage. There probably aren’t many honest companies like this left here in Poland. Many thanks.

Definitely recommended. Very fast repair and very good, speedy communication. Information was available at every stage of the repair request process — an online repair management system. The unit (radio) was already meant to be written off and replaced with another used one. Fortunately, I accidentally found the OEMatic blog while looking for a replacement, and it saved me from replacing it with another used unit, which would have been a loss for the appearance (the fronts of the replacements I found were not in such good condition, and all of them were older than my unit from pre-facelift models); the newer ones were more expensive than the repair. So that’s a plus too.

For a long time I’d been battling an annoying problem in my VW Passat B8 — the car radio kept losing sound. Fortunately, I found OEMatic Car Media Lab and it was a perfect choice!
From the first contact it was clear there was professionalism and huge knowledge of factory audio systems. Quick diagnosis and an even quicker (and most importantly: EFFECTIVE!) repair! The result? The radio plays crystal clear, with no dropouts or interruptions. You can tell the fault was removed at the source, not just temporarily masked.
If you have any problems with factory audio, navigation or the radio in your car (especially VW, Audi, Skoda!), I definitely recommend OEMatic Car Media Lab. True experts!

The Harman-Kardon amplifier in my BMW F33 was flooded, so I decided to hand it over to OEMatic. A quick check to see whether it could be saved — yes! it could! A few days later the amplifier was back with me after repair.

For a moment I also had doubts whether only the amplifier had been damaged by the flooding, because I lost the ability to set the time and information such as instant fuel consumption or average fuel consumption disappeared; after a phone call I was told that this can happen because of a break in the car’s CAN circuit due to the amplifier being absent.

The theory proved correct, and fitting the already repaired amplifier helped and all the functions returned.

I hope the amplifier will serve for a long time to come and without faults.

    I honestly RECOMMEND IT!

The content of the reviews I read quickly convinced me to have my unit repaired at OeMatic. I expected the highest quality of service at every stage and that is exactly what I received. After the phone call I received all the information needed for shipping by text message. As soon as the workshop received the parcel with the radio, I got a phone call, we agreed the details, I confirmed the price and the repair began. In the afternoon of the next day I was informed that the repair had been completed, I settled the bill and the radio was back with me after 4 days. It seems there is no room for even the slightest shortcoming in this company (such as a delay with a text message).
For me, this is the highest quality.
Thank you very much for the repair and I wish you success🙂

    Before sending the RMC

Does the repaired RMC require coding?

The requirements after repair depend on the scope of work. When submitting the unit, state whether the RMC comes from your car or was bought as a replacement. This will help us determine whether, in addition to the repair, the unit needs to be matched to the car.

How much does an Audi RMC repair cost?

In most cases, repairing Audi RMC costs 1230–1476 zł incl. VAT. We confirm the exact price after checking the unit, before starting the repair. We issue a VAT invoice.

How long does the repair take?

Inspection takes 1–3 days, and repair 2–5 days, depending on the service performed. We confirm the lead time after checking the unit. Transport and removal and refitting require additional time.

Can I remove the RMC myself?

The removal method depends on the car model and trim version. If you are not sure, send a photo of the unit or have a workshop remove it on site.

Does no picture mean the RMC is faulty?

A black screen alone does not clearly point to a faulty part. Tell us whether there is sound, the buttons respond and the logo appears. This information helps distinguish a unit that does not start from a screen or wiring problem. Diagnostics confirm the cause.

How do you tell the RMC radio apart from the navigation version?

The navigation version uses GPS and maps on an SD card. To identify the variant, we need the unit number and information about the car's equipment. The NAV button alone does not confirm active navigation.

Do you accept RMC units after water damage?

Such a unit requires an assessment of the level of corrosion and electronic damage. Send information on what liquid got inside, when it happened and whether the unit was switched on afterwards. We will confirm whether repair is possible after inspection.

My part number is not on the list. What should I do?

A missing number from the list does not rule out repair. Send a photo of the label and the Audi model and year — we will check whether we can deal with your RMC version.
