Another Zenec unit has come to us. This time we were dealing with the popular Zenec ZE-NC5010FC model. Our job was to unlock the locked radio. Today we will describe the most common faults, and also say a little about software updates.

Which vehicles is the Zenec ZE-NC5010FC compatible with?

You will most often find this multimedia and navigation unit in Opel models: Astra H, Zafira B and Corsa D. This is a premium piece of kit. A 7-inch touchscreen, steering wheel control support, Bluetooth, DVB-T tuner and a whole host of modern technology. All this makes it one of the best-equipped models.

Unlocking, or recovering the missing radio code

As we wrote in an earlier post about the Zenec Z-E2015 radio, the code has to be entered every time the unit is disconnected from power. However, if the radio is permanently locked, it will remain coded until the counter of attempts is reset. That was exactly the case with the navigation unit recently brought to us by a customer from the other side of the country. We quickly unlocked the unit and set a new code. At the same time, we updated the system.

What else can go wrong with the Zenec ZE-NC5010FC?

Apart from the problem of a forgotten code, the unit is also prone to freezing on the logo screen. This fairly common fault also affects this model. On occasion, there is no display backlight or a completely white screen appears.
Such faults usually point to software problems (although software is not always the direct cause). In that case, it is usually enough to update or reset the radio software.

System update

When unlocking the code, we also updated this radio's system. The latest software versions are currently:

APP_V 2.89.26_03X1_101217
MPG_V 2.4.18_0XXX_101217
MCU_V 1.0.XX_03X1_110607

Zenec ZE-NC5010FC program update

The installation is carried out by inserting the software media into the radio's USB port. A system update usually eliminates most software faults, as well as improving the radio's functionality and enhancing its existing performance. It is worth checking from time to time whether the manufacturer has released a newer version. Running outdated software exposes us to more frequent failures, while the update itself is quick and usually trouble-free.
