Pioneer AVIC-F940BT radio code

Last updated: 19 October 2025 (content, terms and costs)

Definition: The Pioneer AVIC series navigation radio unlocking service (e.g. F940BT, Z710DAB) is the process of removing the user-forgotten password (the “Enter Password” lock), which prevents use of the unit. It involves physically reading the code from the radio memory at the workshop.

You enter the password into your Pioneer radio, but the screen shows an error. You try a second time, then a third... and nothing. The radio is locked, and you have no access to navigation, music or settings.

It is frustrating, especially when you know the password was set by you (or the previous owner) for security, and now you have completely forgotten it. Online code generators do not work, and you are stuck.

We have a solution for this. We specialise in removing forgotten user passwords from Pioneer navigation units. The service is fully safe, takes 1-2 working days, costs 300 zł incl. VAT (including return shipping) and comes with a lifetime warranty.

How do you identify the unit?

Our service covers most Pioneer navigation models fitted with a touchscreen, where the user has set the lock code (password) themselves.

This issue affects, among others, the following models:

  • AVIC-F940BT
  • AVIC-F840BT
  • AVIC-F40BT
  • AVIC-Z710DAB
  • AVIC-F960
  • …and many others in the AVIC series.

Important: This service applies ONLY to removing a forgotten password. We do not carry out any other repairs to these models, such as freezing on the logo, update errors, map loading or hardware damage.

Tip for users:

If your radio is working properly (it is not locked by a password), but you are looking for firmware or map update information, we do not provide these services. However, you can check the manufacturer’s official resources:

Main symptom: password request screen

There is just one, very distinctive problem. When you turn on the radio, instead of the main menu you see a screen with a keypad and a request to enter the password (“Enter Password”).

Locked Pioneer AVIC F940BT showing the "Enter Password" screen with a request to unlock it.
The only symptom of the lock is the password request screen (“Enter Password”). Our service permanently removes this lock.

Entering the wrong code does nothing, and the radio remains completely locked. None of its functions can be used – neither radio, nor navigation, nor multimedia.

Why can’t Pioneer radios be unlocked remotely?

On the internet you can find many code generators for factory radios (such as Ford or Renault) that work based on the serial number.

In the case of the user password in Pioneer radios, it is different.

This lock is not linked to the serial number. It is an individual password stored in the emmc / nand memory in the device. For this reason, it cannot be unlocked remotely.

The effective and safe method is to read and remove the lock code directly from the radio memory at our workshop.

Unlocking process step by step

Our process is simple and focused on getting your working equipment back to you as quickly as possible.

  1. Step 1: Contact us
Fill in the form on our website Free Quote or call us, describing the problem (forgotten password in Pioneer AVIC).
  2. Step 2: Send the radio safely
Carefully pack the unit. Please remember that the touchscreen must be working for us to carry out the service. Use our guide how NOT to pack equipment to avoid damage in transit.
  3. Step 3: Unlocking at the workshop
When the radio reaches us, on the same day or the next day (a total of 1-2 working days) we carry out a physical memory read and permanently remove the forgotten lock.
  4. Step 4: Return of the unit
We send the radio back to you ready to use (plug & play). The return shipping cost is already included in the service price.

Costs, turnaround time and warranty

We believe in full transparency.

  • Price: The total cost of the service is 300 zł incl. VAT.
  • Lead time: 1-2 working days from the moment we receive the radio.
  • Warranty: We provide a lifetime warranty that the code has been removed correctly (or rather, permanently).

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

What if you are unable to unlock the radio?

This happens extremely rarely (less than a 1% chance). However, if it does happen, you will not bear absolutely any costs. You do not pay for our time, and we send the device back at our expense.

My Pioneer has a broken touchscreen. Can you unlock it?

Unfortunately not. To carry out the unlocking process and the subsequent verification, the touch screen must be fully operational.

Do I have to send the radio in? Don't you do it remotely?

Yes, the radio must be sent to us. As explained above, this is a user password that requires physical reading from the unit's memory. It cannot be done remotely.

Is the unlocking permanent? Will the problem come back?

The unlocking is permanent. We remove the password lock completely, so the problem will never come back (unless you set a new password and forget it again).

Will I lose the stored radio stations or settings?

During the unlocking process, the radio settings may, but do not have to, be restored to factory values. However, please remember that because of the lock you do not currently have access to those settings anyway.

How do I send the radio safely?

Protecting the delicate touch screen is key. Read our illustrated guide: How NOT to pack equipment for shipping, so your radio reaches us in one piece.
