Frequently asked questions and answers
Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in Volkswagen Golf VII: enquiry, module shipping and quote.
Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Volkswagen Golf VII?
Yes, we repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Volkswagen Golf VII. We carry out the repair only on the original removed module supplied, after checking it and after your approval of the scope.
Is repair worth it rather than replacement in the Volkswagen Golf VII?
We determine whether repair is worthwhile after checking the removed module, assessing the visible condition of the casing and the reported symptoms, which allows us to define the repair scope. You can receive an estimated quote before sending based on photos and a description.
How is the repair quote prepared for the Volkswagen Golf VII?
For an initial quote, send the make, model, year, fault description and a photo of the unit with the label; we will ask for the part number when it is needed. We will give an estimated amount before dispatch; we will confirm the final amount after checking the module.
Can I send in the removed module from a Volkswagen Golf VII, or do I need to bring the car in?
You do not need to come by car — send the removed module from a Volkswagen Golf VII to our workshop; we handle mail-in repairs across Poland. Protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid box with cushioning, and pack any additional items separately.
What should I prepare before submitting a repair request for the radio in a Volkswagen Golf VII?
Before submitting the request, send the make, model, year, a description of the symptoms, and a photo of the unit and the rating label; we will ask for the part number only if it is needed. Arrange removal with a workshop; we will inspect the module you send in.
Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in the Volkswagen Golf VII concerns the factory MIB1 Discover Pro unit, in which we repair, among other faults, loss of sound.
What unit do we service?
In the Volkswagen Golf VII we repair the factory MIB1 Discover Pro unit (Harman Becker), used in model years roughly 2012–2016. The main unit is not in the dashboard, but in the passenger glovebox — that is where the CD slot and two SD card slots are. The screen in the centre of the dash is a separate display.
How can you tell the problem may be in the module?
An audio circuit fault in the MIB1 Discover Pro develops in stages and gives several recognisable symptoms:
- complete loss of sound from all sources, even though the display responds and the navigation shows the route,
- crackling in the speakers that comes before the sound disappears,
- sound that cuts out and comes back — also after restarting the system or after tapping the unit in the glovebox,
- silence in one speaker or on one side of the car,
- buzzing and crackling after the car has heated up in the sun, which stops after several minutes of driving.
We also repair units that freeze on the startup logo or have a damaged display, drive or SD card reader.
What do we check and how do we quote the repair?
We test the removed module you send in on a test bench: all sound sources and all speaker channels. If the unit has already been repaired, let us know — we then start by assessing its condition. The part number from the label helps us identify the version.
We repair original factory modules only. We prepare an initial quote based on the description and photos, and we start the repair after checking the module and receiving your approval of the price.
