How do you recognise the Toyota Touch 2 radio?

The radio has a screen with two control knobs: the left one for power and volume, the right one for tuning and skipping through tracks. You can read the part number from the rating label.

CarPlay and USB do not work – it is not the cable

We repair the USB operation fault in this radio. If the cable and phone are working properly, but one of the symptoms below still occurs, the cause lies in the radio:

  • the USB function on the radio display is inactive,
  • the phone shows charging for a second, then it stops and the situation repeats,
  • the USB connection mode cannot be selected,
  • CarPlay does not start after connecting the phone.

This is a hardware fault on the main board. The circuits handling the USB port fail after voltage spikes, for example when jump-starting the car from a booster pack. Mechanical damage to the USB socket at the back of the radio can also occur during removal.

What affects the assessment of the radio?

We test the removed radio and confirm that USB does not work here either.
