Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203 covers, among other things, the Comand NTG2 (Harman Becker) unit fitted in the C-Class W203 range after 2004. Below we describe symptoms related to the navigation and drives in this system.

White screen instead of the map

When you press the NAVI button, a white screen appears, as if the system is trying to load data unsuccessfully, while the radio and CD player work properly. This symptom is linked to the map reader. In NTG2, the maps are read by a separate DVD drive, located outside the main unit, so before removal we determine which component should be sent.

Map position stays frozen

If the map is displayed but the car’s position does not update while driving, the cause may be the GPS antenna or the GPS module on the radio’s main board. With the unit itself we can only check the second possibility – we do not assess the antenna or its cable in the car.

Discs, display and enquiry

Faults in the main unit may also be indicated by:

  • a CD ejected after a moment or a read error,
  • a drive that will not accept or eject discs,
  • white lines, dark patches or dead pixels on the screen.

Please attach a photo of the front of the unit and a description of the symptom to your enquiry. We provide an initial quote; after checking the module we confirm the exact price, and we begin the repair once you approve it. We do not repair Android replacements.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203: enquiry, module shipping and quote.

In the Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203, after selecting navigation, the screen turns white - what should be sent?

A white screen while the radio still works is linked to the map reader, which is a separate drive outside the radio. We will agree with you which component to send before removal.

The navigation in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203 does not update its position - is the radio at fault?

The cause may be the antenna or the circuit on the radio main board responsible for positioning. In the workshop we check the removed unit, while the antenna in the car is assessed by the local workshop.

The radio in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203 will not eject the disc - can it be repaired?

A drive that will not accept or eject discs may indicate wear in the laser or the mechanism inside the main unit. Describe the fault in your enquiry, and after the initial quote send the removed unit.

Stripes and patches on the screen in the Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203 - is it a software fault?

Stripes, patches and dead pixels indicate damage to or wear of the display itself, not software. Send a photo of the screen showing the fault for an initial quote.

How do you report a radio from a Mercedes-Benz C-Class S203 estate for repair?

Provide the make, model and year of the car, describe the fault and attach a photo of the front of the unit. After the initial quote, send the removed module by courier or deliver it by arrangement.
