From BMW F10/F11 we accept the factory Harman Kardon (Harman Becker) amplifier. Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier from this model is carried out by us on the removed unit, without the car.

Which Harman Kardon amplifiers from the F10 we repair

The F10 uses amplifiers marked B104, BE 9510 and B217. You can read the designation and part number from the label on the casing; a photo of it is enough for us to make an initial assessment. The module is installed in the boot, in a separate compartment, and this location matters for the faults described below.

Flooding and power surge – how the fault develops

Damage occurs as a result of moisture or a power surge after using a booster pack. Water gets into the boot when the tailgate is open in the rain or through seals that lose their tightness with age. The fault may develop in stages:

  • one speaker stops working while the others still play,
  • crackling, whistling or humming appears,
  • the audio system fuse blows,
  • all sounds disappear, including the parking sensors.

A message about no audible notifications may then appear on the screen. Simply drying the module out does not reverse the corrosion that has already affected the contacts and tracks.

When repair makes sense

The assessment depends on the condition of the main board. Modules disconnected quickly after flooding, with only partial loss of sound or still visible in the car diagnostics, are promising. It is less favourable when there are burnt holes in the board, corrosion has affected a large area, the casing is cracked, or the amplifier has stood in water for a long time. In your enquiry, write what happened and whether there was a burning smell. The repair covers the power supply section, communication section and audio paths; we confirm the scope and price after checking the module, and we begin the work once you approve it.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of BMW F10/F11 radio, navigation and amplifiers: enquiry, module shipment and quote.

After the rain in BMW F10/F11 the sound disappeared – could it be the amplifier?

No sound after rain may indicate a flooded amplifier in the boot, especially if the audio system fuse has blown. Check under the side boot trim and see whether there is any water or residue around the module.

I dried the flooded Harman Kardon amplifier and it still does not work. Why?

Drying removes the water, but it does not undo the corrosion, short circuits or track damage that has already occurred on the board. Such a module needs inspection and repair of the main board, and the corrosion continues even after drying.

Does the repaired amplifier need coding in the car?

Coding may be needed if the parameterisation memory stored errors at the moment of failure, or if the main board has to be replaced. In both cases, we can help remotely or advise where this service can be done.

When does repairing the BMW F10/F11 amplifier not make sense?

Replacement may be the better option if there are burnt holes in the board, corrosion has affected a large area, or the casing is broken. We give the final assessment after inspecting the module, and we start the repair once you approve it.

How can I tell which Harman Kardon amplifier I have in the car?

The model designation and part number are on the label on the amplifier casing. Send us a photo of it together with the car year and a description of the symptoms, and on that basis we will prepare an initial quote.
