Repair of radios Peugeot also covers factory navigation systems and amplifiers which, depending on the trim level, may be linked to the OEM installation — that is, the manufacturer’s factory wiring. That is why similar symptoms do not always prove which component is causing the problem. In the case of freezing, no sound or start-up problems, only diagnostics of the removed unit will confirm the cause. This description helps identify the signs of a fault and shows what repairing the original unit looks like.
What are the symptoms of a Peugeot radio and navigation fault?
A Peugeot radio or navigation fault may be indicated by freezing on the logo, the unit restarting, no sound, or loss of connection with the screen. In these cars, the symptom can be broader than the music alone, because the unit may be linked to the OEM installation and other equipment. For this reason, one fault can look like several separate problems.
The moment the fault appears says a lot. After disconnecting the battery, a voltage drop, a failed update or replacing the unit, the diagnostic direction may be different from a fault that appears without such an event. A fault may be indicated by:
- startup stopping on the logo or a reset after a short period of operation,
- no sound despite the radio being on,
- no response to buttons, a black screen or no backlighting,
- navigation not working, media reader or antenna signal reception,
- a logic lockout or a warning signal,
- a problem after replacing the radio or missing functions after installation.
How does the diagnosis and repair of Peugeot audio units work?
Diagnostics begin with a description of the symptom and photos of the unit, the label and the screen showing the error. On this basis, a free initial quote is prepared, and the time needed mainly depends on how complete the description is, the quality of the photos and how clear the symptom is; the module is sent only after acceptance of the quote. The unit itself has to be removed locally, because the item checked is the removed component, not the car.
After the parcel arrives, the removed unit is examined to confirm the cause of the problem, the scope of the repair and the cost. That verification starts once the package has been received. The exact time depends on the type of fault, the module design and the extent of testing needed to confirm the issue. If the description suggests there may be a need for additional configuration after refitting, it is good practice to establish this before work begins.
Repair only starts after the cost has been approved, and before dispatch the unit is tested for operation. Every repair includes a written warranty, the scope of which depends on the type of fault, and applies only to factory OEM units, i.e. serial-fit units without Android replacements. If the radio, navigation or amplifier works correctly outside the car, the vehicle installation should be checked by a local mechanic or auto electrician.
What should you prepare before sending the unit for repair?
For the enquiry, prepare details that will link the symptom to a specific module and its configuration. The description “the radio does not work” is not enough, because a memory fault, logic lockout or a conflict after replacement of the unit can produce a similar effect. Good photos and a short fault history shorten the assessment stage. Before sending, prepare:
- the vehicle make, model and year, and any additional details if the workshop asks for them,
- the part number from the label and a photo of the label itself,
- a photo of the front of the unit and of the error on the screen, if a message appears,
- a description of the symptom: no start-up, rebooting, no sound, GPS issue, screen issue or lockout,
- information on whether the fault appeared after disconnecting the battery, replacing the radio, a short circuit, water ingress or a failed update,
- information on whether the car has a factory amplifier and what other symptoms appear after the unit is installed.
If the problem appeared after fitting another module, say so straight away. That information points attention to version and configuration compatibility, rather than immediately to electronic damage. Also do not load random software before diagnosis if the unit stops on the logo or keeps resetting.
When is it worth choosing repair, and when should the unit be replaced?
Repair makes sense when the original module can be retained and remains compatible with the OEM installation. In Peugeot, keeping your own unit may be beneficial for compatibility with the OEM installation, but the decision is worth confirming with diagnostics. If the electronics can be permanently restored, repair may be a justified solution instead of a random replacement.
A used unit does not solve the matter by itself. With an incompatible version, problems may appear after installation, so version and configuration compatibility should be checked before making a decision. The same applies to a lockout — if the radio does not complete start-up, the first step is to distinguish a memory problem from the code itself.
Whether repair or replacement is worthwhile is decided by the assessment. Replacement may be considered, among other things, when the assessment shows that the unit cannot be permanently repaired or the data needed for correct start-up cannot be recovered. This also applies to cases of mechanical damage to the board, heavy corrosion or charring after power-supply damage.
Frequently asked questions and answers
Repair of Peugeot radios, navigation units and amplifiers: enquiry, module dispatch and quote.
Do you repair factory Peugeot radios and navigation systems?
Yes, we work on factory Peugeot radios, navigation systems and amplifiers. We do not accept aftermarket replacements fitted instead of the original, and factory authenticity is confirmed by the unit label.
Is it worth repairing a Peugeot radio instead of replacing it?
Repair can make sense when you want to keep the factory unit matched to the car and its equipment. After checking the module, we confirm the scope of work, and the repair only starts after your approval.
How do I get a repair quote for a Peugeot unit?
Before sending, we prepare an initial, indicative quote based on the description of the symptoms and photos. The exact terms are confirmed after the delivered module has been checked, before the repair begins.
How do I send a Peugeot module for repair?
You send the removed unit only, not the car. You can post the module from anywhere in Poland or deliver it in person to Sochaczew by prior arrangement.
What should I prepare before reporting a Peugeot fault?
Prepare the car make, model and year, a description of the symptoms, and a photo of the panel or unit and the rating label. You do not need to know the radio name; we will ask for any extra details if needed.
