Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251: enquiry, module posting and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251?

Yes, we repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251. We check the removed module supplied to us and repair the electronics of the original unit; we do not repair replacements or Android units.

Is repair worth it rather than replacement in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251?

After receiving the removed Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 module, we assess the damage and give the scope of work and an indicative quote; repair is carried out after your approval. We restore the original electronics if the fault can be repaired without replacing the unit with an alternative.

How is the repair quote for the module in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 calculated?

An initial, indicative quote for the removed Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 module is possible based on photos of the module and a description of the symptoms before posting. After checking the module, we will confirm the final price and carry out the repair only after your approval.

Do I need to bring the car in, or can I send the removed Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 module?

There is no need to bring the car in; just send the removed Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 module from anywhere in Poland or deliver it by arrangement. Pack it securely: protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid box and padding, and enclose small parts separately.

What should I prepare before submitting a Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 module?

When submitting, provide the make, model and year of the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251, a description of the symptoms, and a photo of the front of the module and the rating label. Also tell us whether the module has been swapped, flooded or repaired; we will ask for the part number if needed.

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in the Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 covers the Mercedes-Benz NTG2 unit (Harman Becker) and the factory Mercedes-Benz amplifier 7020 (Harman Becker).

Which units do we repair in the R-Class?

In the R-Class (W251) from 2005–2008, Comand NTG2 was used. The 7020 amplifier works with NTG2 and NTG2.5 units; you can identify it by the 7020 marking in the M/N field on the label.

Symptoms: Comand or amplifier?

Issues with starting up and picture point to the NTG2 unit: freezing on the Mercedes-Benz logo, looped restarts, a black screen after a while of operation, or the battery being flat overnight.

Symptoms affecting sound point to the 7020 amplifier:

  • no sound from the speakers on any source, including during a phone call,
  • crackling, squealing or no balance,
  • missing SOUND icon in the radio menu,
  • battery draining away.

The amplifier is damaged by flooding or by a power surge when jump-starting the car from leads or a booster.

What is the estimate based on?

It is based on checking the removed module. If it is not clear whether the main unit or the amplifier is causing the lack of sound, before removal we determine which unit should be sent. In your enquiry, give the make, model and year of the car, describe the fault and attach a photo of the unit and the label. After checking, we present the scope of work and the price; we carry out the repair after your approval. We do not repair Android replacements.
