Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in Porsche Boxster 986: submission, module shipping and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in Porsche Boxster 986?

Yes — we repair the original factory radio, navigation and amplifier from Porsche Boxster 986; we verify whether the unit is factory-fitted from the sticker. The workshop checks and repairs only the removed module, not the car.

Is it worth repairing the module rather than replacing it in Porsche Boxster 986?

Whether it is worth it depends on the result of checking the supplied unit; before dispatch we will give an initial, approximate quote based on the photos and description. After checking the removed module, we will confirm the price and carry out the repair only with your approval.

What does the repair quote for a Porsche Boxster 986 module look like?

We prepare an approximate quote based on photos of the unit, a description of the symptoms and the sticker with the part number before dispatch. After checking the removed module, we will confirm the exact price and contact you before starting the repair.

How do I send or deliver the removed module from Porsche Boxster 986?

You do not need to bring the car in — send the removed module to the OEMatic workshop or deliver it in person after arranging an appointment in advance. Protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid cardboard box with padding, and send any additional parts separately.

What should you prepare before submitting a Porsche Boxster 986 module?

When submitting, prepare the make, model and year of your Porsche Boxster 986, a precise description of the symptom after switching on the ignition, and a photo of the removed module together with the type label. Add information about previous repairs and any visible damage or corrosion.

Repair of the radio and navigation in Porsche Boxster 986 concerns the factory PCM1 unit — including units locked by code.

Factory navigation in the Porsche Boxster 986

In the Porsche Boxster 986 we repair the factory Porsche PCM1 navigation (Becker / Siemens), produced approx. 1998–2004. This is the first version of the Porsche Communication Management system, developed by Becker and Siemens; it supports audio, navigation and communication functions.

With what symptom does PCM1 come to the workshop?

With PCM1, the symptom that brings these units to us is code lock: the unit has two codes — a separate one for the radio and a separate one for the navigation. Therefore, in your submission, state which code the unit is requesting and in what situation it started asking for it. Describe other symptoms in your own words: what is visible on the screen after switching on and what has stopped working.

What should you provide when submitting, and how is the quote prepared?

We check and repair original factory modules; the scope of work depends on the result of checking the unit you send in. The submission should include:

  • the car make, model and year,
  • a description of what happens after the ignition is switched on,
  • a photo of the front of the module and the sticker with the part number,
  • information on whether the module has been replaced or repaired before.

Based on this, we will prepare an initial, approximate quote, and confirm the exact price after checking the unit. We start the repair after your approval. We do not repair replacements fitted in place of factory units, for example Android systems. Only the removed unit is sent to the workshop, not the car.
