Which factory modules do we service in the Octavia II model?
In the Škoda Octavia II model, we repair RNS310 (Bosch) radio-navigation units, produced approx. 2008–2014, and RNS510 (Continental), produced approx. 2008–2016. Which one you have in the car will be determined from a photo of the front and the sticker with the part number.
RNS510: sound, resets and CAN communication
A power supply fault in RNS510 shows up as pops, humming and crackling in the speakers, a reset loop after the welcome logo, or a flat battery while parked. If there is no communication over CAN, it looks different:
- the navigation does not switch off when the key is removed, or does not switch on when it is inserted,
- the buttons on the front panel are not backlit,
- the multifunction steering wheel controls do not work,
- the unit switches off after an hour despite the ignition being on.
RNS310: after a failed software update
RNS310 units come to us after attempts to update or “Polish” them. The navigation switches on, but after a moment shows a white screen with the message “Software update needed, Please insert download data carrier”, has shifted buttons and changed colours, or flashes and freezes on the start screen.
In both cases we inspect the removed module. We prepare an initial, approximate quote based on the symptom description and photos; we confirm the exact price after inspection, and we carry out the repair only after your approval. We do not repair replacement units installed instead of factory units.
