Repairing a Scania radio also covers factory radio-navigation systems and amplifiers such as AUS3 TIP, AUS4 Basic or AUS4 STD, if the fault lies in the unit’s electronics. In a lorry, the symptom can be misleading, because no start after a booster, a whine in the speakers or hanging on the logo do not mean the same failure. For an accurate diagnosis, the exact symptom, the reference from the label and information on whether the problem appeared after power supply issues are needed. This changes the direction of testing and makes it possible to distinguish a fault in the unit itself from a problem in the vehicle wiring.

Symptoms of failure in Scania radios, navigation systems and amplifiers

Problems with Scania units can show up as no start, loss of sound, the interface freezing or navigation working incorrectly. In an AUS4 Basic, the screen may light up with no audio or a whine may appear. In an AUS3 TIP, the issue is often no power-up, while an AUS4 STD may freeze on the logo. However, the same user complaint may point to a different cause depending on whether the unit partially wakes up or does not respond at all.

If there is no sound, the fault in the radio or amplifier must be separated from a problem with the speakers, wiring or power supply in the vehicle. OEMatic checks the removed unit, and if it works correctly, the cabin installation should be assessed by a local auto electrician.

The following device behaviour may indicate a fault:

  • complete lack of response after switching on,
  • backlighting or logo without a full system start-up,
  • the unit restarting or the interface freezing,
  • no sound despite the screen working, or a whine in the speakers.

How we diagnose and repair Scania units

Diagnosis starts by separating the symptom into a specific operating variant of the unit. The checks differ for no response, restarting after the logo, and silence with the screen working. In Scania units, once removed, the conditions needed for the radio, navigation system or amplifier to wake up fully also have to be recreated.

Before the unit is sent, a free initial quote is prepared based on photos and a description, and the time needed depends on how complete the enquiry is and on the type of unit. Once the parcel arrives, the unit itself is tested on the bench, and the time needed to confirm the cause and the cost depends on the symptom, model and the extent of diagnosis required. Work starts only after approval, and the scope and cost of the repair are confirmed before work begins.

The repair includes restoring start-up, sound, navigation operation or cooperation of the amplifier with the vehicle wiring, if the cause lies in the module’s electronics. Before being sent back, the unit undergoes a functional test, and after the repair a written warranty is issued, the scope of which depends on the type of repair. The service covers factory OEM units, without Android replacements.

What to prepare before sending a unit for repair

Before sending it, prepare details that link the symptom to the specific version of the unit and the circumstances of the failure. In Scania units, the description “does not work” may not be enough, because the direction of the initial diagnosis depends on whether the unit does not respond at all, stops on the logo or gets stuck in a restart loop. The more precisely you describe when the fault appeared, the easier it is to distinguish an electronics issue from the effects of a voltage drop or previous interference.

Prepare the following for the enquiry:

  • the make, model and year of the vehicle,
  • the unit reference from the label and a photo of the plate,
  • a precise description of the symptom and whether the unit responds partially,
  • a photo of the screen, message or error, if anything is displayed,
  • information about a booster, battery replacement, emergency charging, disconnected wiring, flooding or previous repair.

Send the removed module to the workshop, meaning the part itself, not the whole vehicle.

When repairing a Scania unit makes more sense than replacing it

The decision to repair or replace should be made after an expert assessment — that is, a technical evaluation — once the extent of the damage and the cost of restoring the module to working order are known. Only then can it be realistically assessed whether restoring the original unit to operation is the better option, or whether replacing the whole part is more sensible.

Replacing it without confirming the cause does not guarantee that the problem will not return after fitting another unit. Module replacement should only be considered when the assessment shows that repair is not technically or financially justified. If the inspection does not confirm a fault in the unit, the cause must be sought in the vehicle wiring, which should be assessed by a local auto electrician.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of Scania radios, navigation systems and amplifiers: enquiry, module shipping and quote.

Do you repair factory Scania radios, navigation units and amplifiers?

Yes, we deal with factory Scania radios, navigation units and amplifiers when the fault concerns the electronics of the supplied unit. We do not repair non-factory replacements; the module’s origin is confirmed by the label.

Is it worth repairing a Scania unit instead of replacing it?

Before shipping, we prepare a preliminary, indicative quote based on the description and photos. We confirm the final scope and cost after checking the module, and we only start the repair once you approve it. Only after such an assessment can repair be properly compared with replacing the unit.

How is a Scania radio repair quoted?

First send a description of the symptoms and photos of the unit, panel and label, and we will prepare an indicative quote before shipping. After receiving the module, we check it as a separate unit and confirm the repair scope for approval.

Do you need to bring the Scania lorry to OEMatic?

You do not send the vehicle, only the removed module; leave removal and refitting to a local workshop, and send the unit to Sochaczew or deliver it by arrangement. When packing, protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid box and fill the empty spaces.

What to prepare before submitting a Scania unit?

Prepare the make, model and year of the vehicle, a description of the symptoms, and a photo of the panel or unit and the rating label. You do not need to know the radio name; if we need the number from the label, we will ask for it.
