Our repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in the Mercedes-Benz SL R231 applies only to factory equipment. We work on the removed module, which comes to our bench – the car stays with you.
Factory module versus replacement unit
You can identify the original radio, navigation or amplifier by the label with the part number. If someone has fitted an Android radio-navigation unit in place of the factory unit, we will not repair it. If in doubt, send a photo of the unit and the label – we will check what we are dealing with. You do not need to give the system name.
From request to decision
The sequence is as follows:
- describe the fault and state the car’s year, attaching photos,
- you receive an initial quote from us,
- we check the delivered module and confirm the exact cost,
- you decide whether we carry out the repair.
We do not start any work on the unit without your approval. The first quote is based on photos and the description, so it is provisional.
What to include in the fault description
The more precisely you describe the unit’s behaviour, the easier it is to assess the enquiry initially. Let us know whether the unit powers on at all, whether the issue concerns the screen or the sound, and whether it happens every time. If you are not sure whether the radio or the amplifier is at fault, let us know before removal. Together we will establish which elements are needed for checking. Please remember that we assess the unit itself, not the wiring and power supply in the car.
Frequently asked questions and answers
Repair of radio, navigation and amplifiers in Mercedes-Benz SL R231: enquiry, module shipping and quote.
With the Mercedes-Benz SL R231, do I need to bring the car to the workshop?
No. The car stays with you, and we receive only the removed module, sent by courier. The unit can also be delivered in person, by prior arrangement.
Who removes the module from the car?
Removal and later refitting are arranged with the workshop locally. We deal only with the delivered unit: we inspect it, confirm the cost and repair it after your approval.
What is the order of the submission process?
First you send a description of the symptom, the car’s year and photos, and we reply with an indicative quote. Then we inspect the delivered module, confirm the exact cost and wait for your decision.
How can I tell if the car has an aftermarket replacement rather than the original?
The factory module has a sticker with the part number. If you are unsure, send a photo of the unit and the sticker, and we will assess whether it is original equipment that we can deal with.
How do I pay for the repair?
Payment is made by bank transfer before the unit is returned, or cash on delivery. We issue a VAT invoice for the service performed, and you know the cost before the repair starts.
