Repair of radio, navigation and amplifiers Mercedes-Benz ML W166: enquiry, module shipping and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 model?

Yes, we repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier from the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 model as a removed module delivered to the workshop. We do not service replacement units or units with systems other than factory ones; we identify the original by the label.

Is it worth repairing the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 rather than replacing it?

Whether repairing the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 is worthwhile depends on the type of fault and on whether the module is original. Based on photos, we will give an initial assessment, and once we receive the removed module, we will check it and provide the scope and quote for approval.

How is the repair quote for the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 model prepared?

The initial quote for the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 is based on photos of the module, a photo of the label and a description of the symptoms sent before dispatch. After receiving the removed module, we will check it and present the repair scope and the final quote before work begins.

Do I need to come by car, or send the removed Mercedes-Benz ML W166 module?

You do not need to come by car; send only the removed module from the Mercedes-Benz ML W166 model or deliver it in person by arrangement. Protect the screen and connectors, use a rigid cardboard box and padding; send additional items separately.

What should I prepare before submitting a Mercedes-Benz ML W166 module?

Before submitting a Mercedes-Benz ML W166, send the make, model, year, a description of the symptoms, and a photo of the panel and the nameplate label. We will ask for the part number if needed.

Repair of radio, navigation and amplifier Mercedes-Benz ML W166 concerns the factory Mercedes-Benz NTG4.5 unit (Melco / Harman Becker / Matsushita), used in cars from around model years 2011–2015.

NTG4.5 unit in the ML W166 model

NTG4.5 is the main unit of the Comand system. It was made in several factories, so we confirm the manufacturer and version from the sticker with the part number – you do not need to identify them yourself.

What symptoms should you check the unit for?

NTG4.5 comes to us with start-up, sound and media faults. The Comand does not switch on, the screen is black and there is no sound from the speakers. Or, after turning the key, the Mercedes logo appears and then the unit keeps switching off and on by itself, endlessly. It also happens that the system works, but freezes from time to time and does not respond to the buttons. For sound faults, we repair complete silence on every source, as well as crackling or “pops” in the speakers. In addition, there is a drive that cannot read discs or ejects them by itself, and a map update that stops before the end.

Scope of repair and submission

We agree the scope of work after checking the removed unit. If the device has been flooded or exposed to moisture, write about it straight away – corrosion then progresses very quickly. In your submission, give the make, model and year of the car, describe the symptom and attach a photo of the panel and the sticker with the part number. Based on the photos and description, we give an approximate assessment, and after checking we present the scope of repair and a quote for approval. We do not service replacements with systems other than factory-fitted ones.
