Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in Porsche Boxster 981: booking, module shipment and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in Porsche Boxster 981?

Yes – in Porsche Boxster 981 we service the factory radio, navigation and amplifier units; we work only on removed modules delivered to the workshop. We do not repair replacement units fitted instead of factory equipment.

Is it worth repairing equipment in Porsche Boxster 981 rather than replacing it?

For Porsche Boxster 981, we assess whether repair makes sense individually after checking the removed module; based on photos and the description we give an initial indication before dispatch, and after inspection we confirm the scope and cost. Repair starts after your approval.

How is the repair quote for a module for Porsche Boxster 981 prepared?

We prepare the quote for Porsche Boxster 981 based on photos of the module, a description of the fault, and the make, model and year before dispatch. We will confirm the exact price after checking the removed unit, and the repair is carried out after your approval.

Do I need to bring the car in, or can I send the module from Porsche Boxster 981?

For Porsche Boxster 981 you do not need to bring the car in – you send the removed module from anywhere in Poland or deliver it in person by appointment. For shipping, protect the screen and connectors, pack it in a rigid box and fill the empty spaces.

What should you prepare before submitting a module to the Porsche Boxster 981 workshop?

Before submitting for Porsche Boxster 981, send the make, model and year, a description of the fault, and a photo of the front of the module and the rating label, which allows an initial assessment. You do not need to know the radio name; we will only ask for the part number if it is needed.

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in Porsche Boxster 981 covers the factory Porsche PCM3.1 navigation unit, which we inspect after removing it from the car.

Which unit do we service in the Porsche Boxster 981?

In the Porsche Boxster 981 we repair the factory Porsche PCM3.1 navigation unit (Harman Becker). It has a built-in hard drive where the maps are stored.

Screen artefacts and resets – how should you describe them?

The PCM3.1 module can show graphical artefacts: chaotic stripes, random pixels, or an image known as 'ants', where the content is unreadable. The picture sometimes briefly returns to normal, after which the interference comes back. The other fault is the navigation resetting: the unit turns off and on repeatedly, and at every start-up you can hear the hard drive spinning up.

If you have artefacts or an incorrect image, tell us when the disturbance appears, and if the navigation is resetting, how often it restarts and whether you manage to get into the menu. We also repair units that freeze on the Porsche logo or do not switch on.

What does the scope of repair depend on, and what do we check?

We check the removed module, not the car. When reporting the fault, a photo of the front, a description of the fault and a photo of the label with the part number are useful. Then we proceed as follows:

  • based on the photos and description, we prepare an initial, approximate quote,
  • after receiving the unit, we inspect it and confirm the scope of repair and the price,
  • we carry out the work after your approval.

Please also provide the make, model and year of the car. We do not service Android replacements fitted in place of the factory units.
