Frequently asked questions and answers
Repair of radio, navigation and amplifiers for Seat Alhambra II: enquiry, module shipping and quote.
Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Seat Alhambra II?
Yes — we repair factory radios, navigation units and amplifiers from the Seat Alhambra II; the repair applies only to original units identified by the sticker. We repair the supplied, removed module, and we do not accept aftermarket replacements.
Is repair worthwhile rather than replacement in the Seat Alhambra II?
The decision to repair rather than replace is helped by an initial quote based on photos and a description of your removed module; once we receive it, we will check the unit and only carry out the repair after your approval. We do not accept aftermarket replacements.
How is the module repair quoted for the Seat Alhambra II?
The initial quote is approximate and we prepare it on the basis of photos of the sticker and a description of the symptoms of your removed module; this is information before shipping. Once we receive it, we will check the unit and confirm the exact cost before starting the repair.
Do you need to bring the car in, or can you send the module from the Seat Alhambra II?
You do not need to bring the car in — you send the removed module from the Seat Alhambra II to our workshop, or deliver it in person by arrangement. Protect the screen and connectors, and pack the module in a rigid box with filling material.
What should be prepared before booking module repair for the Seat Alhambra II?
Before booking, provide the car make, model and year, a brief description of the symptoms, and a photo of the removed module with the sticker visible, plus a description of its behaviour when switched on. Have the removal and refitting done by a workshop; we check the supplied module.
Repair of the radio and navigation system in the Seat Alhambra II consists of checking and repairing the factory RNS510 radio-navigation unit removed from the car.
Which unit do we service in the Seat Alhambra II?
We repair the factory RNS510 radio-navigation unit (Continental), produced roughly between 2008 and 2016. It has a large touchscreen and an SD card slot under the screen. The part number is on the sticker on the top or side of the casing.
Crackling in the speakers, resets, flat battery
These are three symptoms of one RNS510 fault – a power supply failure on the main board:
- regular, low and loud clicks or a bass hum in the speakers, which appears regardless of the volume setting and does not stop after the ignition is switched off,
- welcome logo, after which the screen goes blank and the cycle repeats – or the radio switches off completely,
- current draw while parked: the unit does not switch off after the car is locked and drains the battery.
A separate fault is no communication over the CAN bus: the navigation unit does not switch off after the key is removed, steering wheel controls do not work, and the buttons on the panel are not illuminated.
What do we check and how do we quote the repair?
We check the removed module, not the car: start-up behaviour, sound and standby current draw. A software update will not remove the power supply fault described here, because it is hardware-related. Before sending it, describe the symptom, give the make, model and year of the car, and include a photo of the unit and the sticker – we will prepare a preliminary, indicative quote. We confirm the exact price after inspection, and start the repair once you approve it. We do not accept replacement units fitted instead of factory equipment.
