Ford NAV MFD LOW – black screen, what now?

Has the Ford NAV MFD LOW radio-navigation suddenly stopped working? Black screen, no response, or perhaps only a quiet fan at the back? This is a typical fault that can be repaired – without coding and without replacing the whole unit. See how to identify the problem and what the repair looks like step by step.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Ford Mondeo IV radio, navigation and amplifier repair: submission, module shipping and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in the Ford Mondeo IV?

Yes, we repair factory radios, navigation systems and amplifiers from the Ford Mondeo IV — we identify them by the sticker and do not repair replacement units. You send the removed module to our workshop, we check it and determine the scope of work.

Is repairing a Ford Mondeo IV module worthwhile instead of replacing it?

We decide whether repairing a Ford Mondeo IV module is worthwhile after inspecting the removed module; before dispatch you can receive an initial quote based on photos and a description. We will agree which components to send before removal.

How is a Ford Mondeo IV module repair quoted?

An initial quote for the Ford Mondeo IV is possible on the basis of photos of the removed module, the rating label and a description of the symptoms before dispatch. Once we receive the unit, we check it in the workshop and only after confirming the scope of work will we ask for approval to carry out the repair.

How should I deliver the removed Ford Mondeo IV module — by post or in person?

You do not need to come by car — send the removed module from anywhere in Poland or deliver it to the workshop by appointment. Pack the module in a rigid cardboard box, protect the screen and connectors, and fill any empty spaces; send additional items separately.

What should I prepare before reporting a problem with the Ford Mondeo IV module?

Before sending the Ford Mondeo IV module, please provide the make, model and year, a description of the symptoms and a photo of the unit with the rating label from the removed module. On this basis we will prepare an initial assessment; the final quote will be confirmed after checking the module.

Ford Mondeo IV radio, navigation and amplifier repair covers servicing the three factory navigation systems used in this model.

Supported factory units in Mondeo IV

In the Ford Mondeo IV we service:

  • Ford FX – LSRNS (Blaupunkt / Bosch) — a navigation system with a small non-touch display,
  • Ford NAV MFD LOW (Bosch) — a navigation system with an SD card slot for maps, fitted in cars from 2011–2014,
  • Ford NX – HSRNS / HSMCA (Blaupunkt / Bosch) — a touch navigation system with maps on DVD (HSRNS) or on an SD card (HSMCA).

Symptoms indicating a module fault

Each unit has different symptoms. FX – LSRNS stops switching on after the ignition key is turned, and when faulty it can drain the battery while parked. In NAV MFD LOW the issue concerns the display: poor contrast, flickering and lines on the screen, a black screen while the radio is still playing, or complete lack of response. In NX – HSRNS / HSMCA the fault may be indicated by restarts (also after pressing HOME or with a request for the PIN code), touch that does not work or selects adjacent fields, lines on the display, and no reading of discs or the SD card.

Assessment scope and diagnostic criteria

We assess the removed, delivered unit — we do not inspect the car. The repair scope depends on which unit you have and on the condition of its electronics. We repair factory modules; we do not accept Android radio-navigation units fitted in their place.

For an initial assessment, send a photo of the unit front and the label with the part number, a description of its behaviour after the ignition is switched on, and details of any previous repair attempts. If there is a map issue, state whether you use a DVD or an SD card.

We provide an indicative quote before shipping. After checking the unit, we confirm the scope of work and wait for your approval.
