Repair of the Suzuki Grand Vitara II (JT / JB) radio, navigation and amplifier covers the factory Clarion QY-5002 radio from model years approx. 2005–2014. One of the reported problems is the "Personal Lock".
"Personal Lock" in the Clarion QY-5002 radio
The "Personal Lock" message and request to enter the "Personal Code" are an anti-theft security feature, not a fault. It activates after every break in power, for example after the battery has been replaced or gone flat. While the lock is active, the navigation, radio, CD player and audio system settings do not work.
How we remove the lock
Send just the radio unit to the workshop. You can choose between two solutions: reading the original code or permanently removing the lock. We check the code and the radio’s operation on the bench before sending it back. The car stays with you, and you arrange for the radio to be removed by a mechanic locally.
How to identify this unit in the Grand Vitara II
Look at the label on the radio’s metal casing. It should show:
- manufacturer: Clarion,
- model designation, for example QY-5002S with the next letter,
- part number marked as "Part NO".
A photo of this label and the screen with the message is enough for an initial quote. If your factory radio, navigation unit or amplifier has a different symptom, describe it and give the car’s year. We will assess the enquiry from the photos, and confirm the exact price after checking the removed module. We do not repair Android replacements.

What does "Personal Lock" mean in the Suzuki Grand Vitara II radio?
It is an anti-theft security feature of the Clarion radio, not a fault. It activates after a break in power, for example after the battery has been replaced or gone flat, and blocks the unit’s functions.
Will the lock return after the next battery change once it has been unlocked?
That depends on the chosen solution. In the Grand Vitara radio we can read the original code, which you then enter after the next power interruption, or we can permanently remove the lock.
What should I send for unlocking a Grand Vitara II radio?
Just the radio unit itself, without the other vehicle components. Please send a photo of the label on the casing and of the screen showing the message first – based on that we will prepare an initial quote.
How do I check whether I have a Clarion radio in the Grand Vitara II?
Look at the label on the metal casing: you will find the manufacturer’s name, the model designation and the part number there. A photo of this label is enough for us to confirm the unit.
Do you test the Grand Vitara radio after removing the lock?
Yes. We check the code and the operation of the radio on our bench before sending the unit back. Refitting the radio in the car is carried out by your mechanic on site.
