Navigation not working in a Chrysler RHW radio? There are 3 reasons for this fault, and we repair each one

Our Jeep Wrangler III radio, navigation and amplifier repair covers, among other things, the factory RHW radio-navigation unit (Harman Becker) fitted in the Wrangler JK. Only the removed module is sent to the workshop.
Navigation database missing message in RHW
The symptom is as follows: the radio works, but when you press NAV, instead of the map you see the message “Navigation Database Not Detected. Please Install Navigation Database”. The fault is permanent and prevents you from using the navigation. This message can have one of three causes:
- a faulty hard drive containing the maps,
- a radio software error,
- damage to the electronics on the main board, causing the radio not to detect the drive.
We repair each of these cases. Which one has occurred is determined after checking the unit.
How to make sure it is RHW?
You will find the radio symbol in the lower right corner of the front panel, right next to the AUX socket. If it says RHW there, this description applies to your unit. In the service menu, under the VERSIONS tab, a working radio shows hard drive data; empty fields mean the drive is not being detected.
Repair instead of a used unit
When you buy a used radio, you do not know its history. With a repair, you keep the unit you already have. We prepare an initial quote based on the description and photos of the front and the sticker with the part number. We confirm the exact price after checking the module, and after the repair we test the navigation function. We do not repair Android replacements.
Frequently asked questions and answers
Jeep Wrangler III radio, navigation and amplifier repair: booking, module dispatch and quote.
After pressing NAV in the Jeep Wrangler III, a message appears saying the database is missing – what does that mean?
The radio has no access to the maps. The cause may be a faulty hard drive, a software error, or an electronics fault on the main board, so the removed unit must be checked.
Is it enough to replace the map hard drive in the Jeep Wrangler III?
Only if the hard drive itself is faulty. If the radio cannot see the drive because of an electronics fault on the main board, a new drive will not help, so we first identify the cause.
How can I check whether my Jeep Wrangler III has the factory RHW radio?
Look at the lower right corner of the radio front panel, next to the AUX socket – that is where the device symbol is located. You can also send us a photo of the front and we will confirm the model before you send it.
Is the Jeep Wrangler III radio tested after repair?
Yes. After the repair we check the navigation function in the repaired unit before it comes back to you. The test concerns the removed module, not the car.
How do I book a Jeep Wrangler III radio for repair?
Provide the make, model and year of the car, describe the fault and attach photos of the front and the device sticker. Based on this, we will prepare an initial quote, and after you approve it you can send the module by courier.
