Frequently asked questions and answers

Mercedes-Benz W212 radio, navigation and amplifier repair: enquiry, module shipment and quote.

Which factory radio-navigation unit do you repair in the Mercedes-Benz W212 model?

We repair, among others, Harman Becker radio-navigation units in the version with a single CD/DVD drive or with a CD changer. We accept only factory units, not Android replacements.

What does continuous resetting of the radio in the Mercedes-Benz W212 model mean?

When the system switches off after the menu appears, then starts up again and only the logo is visible, that is one of the symptoms of a fault in the Harman Becker radio-navigation unit. We determine the cause after checking the removed unit.

The radio from the Mercedes-Benz W212 model is asking for an unlock code. Is that a fault?

If the radio has never been replaced and is asking to be unlocked, in the Harman Becker radio-navigation this means the unit is faulty. Please describe this in your enquiry and attach a photo of the message.

Where can I find the sticker with the radio number from the Mercedes-Benz W212?

The data label is on the right-hand side of the casing, so you can read it once the radio has been removed. A photo of this label and the front panel lets us confirm the version before quoting.

Does the Mercedes-Benz W212 need to be brought in whole for repair?

No, you only send the removed unit by courier, and the removal is arranged on site. We give an initial quote before shipping and the exact one after checking the module.

Mercedes-Benz W212 radio, navigation and amplifier repair at OEMatic covers factory units for this E-Class, including the Audio 50 APS radio-navigation made by Harman Becker.

Audio 50 APS in the W212 model

In the E-Class W212 there are two versions of this unit: BE9013 with a single CD/DVD drive and BE9014 with a disc changer. The front panel may be graphite or gloss black, and neither version of Audio 50 APS has an SD card reader. The version is best confirmed after removing the radio, because the data label with the part number is on the right-hand side of the casing.

When does the radio-navigation need checking?

The faults that bring Audio 50 APS in for repair concern start-up and locking. Signs of a problem with the module may include:

  • repeated resets: the menu appears, the system switches off, then starts up again and only the logo is visible once more,
  • no response when turning the key or switching it on manually,
  • stopping at the Mercedes-Benz logo after the ignition is switched on,
  • requesting an unlock code (AntiTheft), even though the radio has never been replaced.

What does the enquiry and quote process look like?

Describe at which stage of start-up the system stops, and send a photo of the front panel and the label. You do not need to know the radio model name; we will ask for the part number if it is needed. An initial quote is prepared based on the photos and description. Only the removed unit is sent to the workshop, and we confirm the exact price after checking it and before starting the work. We do not repair Android replacement units.
