Our repair of the Honda HR-V II radio, navigation and amplifier covers the factory Honda Connect system (Fujitsu Ten / Denso). In the HR-V these units have catalogue numbers starting with 39100-T8M. Honda Connect is available as the radio only or as radio with navigation.

How to identify your version

You can identify the navigation version by the small square Garmin sticker on the top cover of the casing. The unit label is what determines whether it is the correct unit: it must show Fujitsu Ten or Denso as the manufacturer.

PIN request after loss of power

After the ignition is switched on, a keypad and a request for a 5-digit PIN code appear on the screen, and all functions remain locked. This is an anti-theft protection that activates after the battery has gone flat or been disconnected, or after the radio has been fitted into a car with a different VIN. The code is permanently assigned to the unit. Before removing the radio, hold down the power button for a few seconds – on some units the lock screen then disappears. If that does not work, we read the code from the memory on the main board of the removed radio.

The second situation is a radio that does not move on to the menu. This may be indicated by:

  • the Honda logo, the screen going blank and then restarting in a loop,
  • a static logo with no response to touch or buttons,
  • dead USB ports and no way to set the clock on the small display.

The cause is corrupted data in the eMMC memory, where the radio system is stored. Before removal, disconnect everything from the USB ports and restart the system, because a faulty device in the port can produce the same symptom. If the memory is physically damaged, we replace it with a new one and load the software.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of Honda HR-V II radios, navigation units and amplifiers: enquiry, module shipping and quote.

Honda Connect radio in the HR-V asks for a code after the battery has been replaced. What should I do first?

Hold down the radio power button for a few seconds when the code request appears – on some units the lock screen then disappears. If that does not help, the code has to be read from the memory of the removed unit.

Can the code for a Honda Connect radio be generated from the serial number?

No, there are no effective serial-number code generators for this radio. The code is assigned to the unit and stored in the memory on the main board, from where we read it after removing the radio.

I bought a used radio for a Honda HR-V II. Will it also ask for a code?

Yes, the radio is paired with the car’s VIN, so when it is fitted into another vehicle it activates the lock and asks for a PIN code. A used unit without a code means the same problem as a radio after loss of power.

The screen in the HR-V shows the Honda logo and keeps restarting. Is it the radio?

A logo loop may indicate corrupted data in the radio memory. First disconnect everything from the USB ports and restart the system; if the symptom remains, describe it in the enquiry and attach a photo of the label.

How can I tell that my radio is Honda Connect with navigation?

The navigation version has a small square sticker with the Garmin logo on the top cover of the casing. The unit label should also show Fujitsu Ten or Denso as the manufacturer, so attach a photo of it to the enquiry.
