Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifier in the Škoda Rapid (NH) includes, among other things, the factory RNS 315 radio-navigation unit made by TechniSat. Its faults are divided into software and hardware faults.

RNS 315 in the Rapid: software faults

Some problems with this unit are down to the software. They may be indicated by symptoms such as:

  • the message “Please insert software CD” on the screen,
  • the “Software Update” screen immediately after switch-on,
  • freezing or resetting,
  • no response to the power button or the NAVI button,
  • no device code.

When the message “Please insert software CD” appears, the hardware version and software version of the unit do not affect the repair.

Hardware faults of this navigation system

The second group is damage to the hardware itself: a non-working touchscreen, a smashed display, a torn-off FM or GPS antenna socket, worn or damaged front panel buttons, as well as CDs or SD memory cards not being read. We deal with both groups of faults.

Submitting and checking the module

In your enquiry, state the year of the Rapid, describe the fault and attach a photo of the front of the unit and the sticker with the part number. If the screen shows a message, photograph it. On that basis we will prepare an initial quote. Only the removed unit is sent to the workshop; after checking it we confirm the cost, and we start the work after your approval. We finish the repair with a device test. We also accept other factory audio units from this model — the radio and amplifier — but not Android replacements.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of radio, navigation and amplifiers Škoda Rapid: enquiry, sending the module and quote.

Navigation in the Škoda Rapid is asking for the software disc – what does that mean?

The message “Please insert software CD” points to a software fault in the factory TechniSat navigation unit. We repair such units regardless of hardware version and software version.

Do you repair a shattered display in the Rapid navigation?

Yes. Among the hardware faults of this unit we deal with are a shattered display, a non-working touchscreen, and worn or damaged front-panel buttons.

The navigation in the Rapid does not respond to the NAVI button – can it be repaired?

No response to the NAVI button is one of the software faults we handle, as is freezing and resetting of the unit. Describe the symptom and attach a photo of the unit.

Can a pulled-out antenna socket in the Rapid navigation be repaired?

A pulled-out FM or GPS antenna socket is one of the hardware faults we repair in this navigation unit. For an initial quote, send a photo of the damaged socket and the sticker with the part number.

How do you test the Rapid navigation after repair?

We finish the repair with a test of the unit in the workshop. We work with the removed module, so the Škoda Rapid stays with you, and you arrange for the navigation to be refitted by a local mechanic.
