Frequently asked questions and answers

Repair of the radio, navigation and amplifiers in Porsche 911 996: submission, module shipping and quote.

Do you repair the factory radio, navigation and amplifier in Porsche 911 996?

Yes — we repair factory units from Porsche 911 996; we check the removed module you send in and match the scope of work to the faults found. We do not repair replacements or Android devices fitted instead of factory units.

Is repair worthwhile instead of replacement in Porsche 911 996?

Whether repair is worthwhile for Porsche 911 996 depends on the condition of the removed module you send in and the faults we identify during inspection. Based on photos we will provide an approximate quote, and after checking the unit we will confirm the scope and cost of the repair.

What does the quote for repairing the radio/navigation/amplifier in Porsche 911 996 look like?

For a quote for repairing a module from Porsche 911 996, please send a photo of the front and the type label, along with a description of the symptoms before sending. On this basis we will provide an approximate quote, and after checking the module we will confirm the final cost and scope of work.

Do I need to bring in my Porsche 911 996 car, or can I send the module?

There is no need to bring in the car; we accept removed modules sent from all over Poland, and personal delivery is possible by appointment. Before sending, protect the screen and connectors and pack the module in a rigid cardboard box.

What should you prepare before submitting a module for repair in Porsche 911 996?

When submitting a Porsche 911 996 module, send the make, model, year, symptom description and photos of the front and the type label of the removed module. We will ask for the part number only if it is needed; please also inform us about any previous repair attempts.

Repair of the Porsche 911 996 radio and navigation includes the factory Porsche PCM1 unit, which we check after removing it from the car.

Which factory unit do we service in the Porsche 911 996?

We repair the factory Porsche PCM1 navigation system (Becker / Siemens), produced around 1998–2004. PCM, or Porsche Communication Management, controls the audio, navigation and communication functions in this car. The first version of the system was developed in cooperation between Becker and Siemens and comes as a large double-DIN unit.

Code lock in PCM1

PCM1 has two security codes: one separate for the radio and another, completely different one, for the navigation. These units come to our workshop with this lockout. If the unit is asking for a code you do not have, state in your enquiry which part is locked – the radio, the navigation or both.

Describe any other symptoms in your own words. The answers to three questions will help us:

  • what you can see on the screen after switching on the ignition,
  • which function has stopped working: radio, navigation or both,
  • whether the problem appeared after disconnecting the battery or after a previous repair.

What do we check and how do we quote?

We check the removed unit, not the car. Before sending it, please send a photo of the front of the unit and the label with the part number, plus the car make, model and year – we will prepare an initial, estimated quote. We confirm the exact price after checking the module, and we start work once you approve it. We only repair factory units; we do not accept Android replacements fitted in place of the original unit.
