In the Škoda Yeti we inspect and repair the factory RNS510 radio-navigation unit (Continental), produced approximately between 2008 and 2016. You can recognise it by the large touchscreen, the SD card slot below the screen, and the RADIO, MEDIA, MAP and NAV buttons.
RNS510 fault symptoms
A power supply fault in this unit causes loud, bassy bangs and humming in the speakers – audible even in a closed car with the ignition off. The same fault causes a reset loop (the welcome logo followed by the screen going blank) and current draw while parked, which leaves the battery flat in the morning. If, however, the navigation does not switch off after the key is removed, does not respond to the steering wheel buttons and does not illuminate the keys, the issue is a lack of communication over the CAN bus.
What should you include in your enquiry?
